I wouldn't say you're cheating when using the DMR, but on the bigger maps you've essentially got a free kill on whoever isn't carrying the thing... which might feel a bit cheap to some (I'm perfectly fine with it. Might as well abuse whatever I can)

Hmmmm.... my issue with the DMR isn't the range of the thing, it's the versatility. Basically, Halo 4 is perfect example of why bloom was integral to the balance of the weapons sandbox in Reach.

At range? DMR advantage.

At mid-range? DMR advantage.

At close-range? DMR advantage.

You are basically NEVER at a disadvantage with the DMR, so why unequip it?

If you had the DMR as a long-range and mid-range threat, but with a reduced firing rate that made it a liability in close, then you'd have the BR as a close-range/mid-range threat that was a liability at long range.

BR, no idea (possibilities include Containment, Waterworks, Terminal, Boarding Action, Chiron, etc), Halo 2 Campaign / Halo 3 Multiplayer, New Alexandria, 23 in Lone Wolves (I only had like 300 ranked matches compared to my ~8000 custom games), ODST Firefight because tension and teamwork and shit were actually required.

Edit: ScatterSHWAT Oddball with pulse grenade starts and Promethean Vision on Chiron would be absolutely bonkers.

I wish they didn't stop doing weekly playlists - without something new to go on and try my motivation to play the game is seriously low. It's been about 3 or 4 weeks since the last playlist update right? I really hope they at least keep up monthly updates.

Want me to fill in the gaps for you? Here goes: "SWAT is sticking around for another week because we're still pretending it's temporary, and we've added another Slayer playlist! No, King of the Hill isn't back! Extraction? Never heard of him."

These guys are a bit harder to capture since they tend to be in dark rooms and want to be in vehicles. They're also doing constant walk-patrol cycles. (You'll also notice the Elites do the same walk cycle, since they share AI)

Sort of interesting that the Halo story thread has sunk into the nether depths of NeoGAF and speculation threads are pretty dead on Waypoint and halo.bungie.org.

I used to care a lot about the Halo story. I think it was after Halo: Reach that I realized that any dreams I had of there being a story bible keeping the universe fiction straight was a farcical dream, and the novels just went completely off the rails. If the intent was to synthesize and rejuvenate the story aspect of the franchise with Halo 4 and the Spartan Ops stories it doesn't appear to be working. Certainly the in-game Ops stuff overshadows the otherwise interesting CGI story and the setup for Halo 5 looks to be pretty cookie-cutter sci-fi trope stuff.

Played Halo 4 for the first time in a week or two... ugh.

Get rid of boltshot and camo plz!! Adrift is bad enough without that shit.

Haha, and you guys think you hate boltshots.

Edit: And I understand all the hate that weapon gets, but as it's already been said it is a power weapon. Sprint being universal is certainly something that helps, but it helps all close range weaponry as well. And sword block can go die in a corner. It was a broken mechanic that would be as silly as me rejecting a hammer and just as weapon breaking. In Halo 4 one of the few good things the sandbox has going for it is everything has been improved, not nerfed. With the power the sprayers and rifles that you spawn with have, you couldn't even call it a power weapon at all with block. And even with ordnance it's just as random, and unfair as everything else. I very rarely see it myself.

So yes, it's powerful but in this game it feels more fair than ever.

more fair than ever? IMO its several times more effective (even cheap) than in previous games.

and with personal ordnance it's hardly "rare".

grab the sword at the start of a match, get a few kills with your primary until you have ordnance. if you're lucky you'll get a speed boost. now combine that with promethean vision and mobility (unlimited sprint) and if you're a half decent player that's pretty much a guaranteed killing frenzy. or riot if you throw in a couple kills with your other weapon.

the actual sword isn't to blame though, it's fine, as are the rest of the power weapons. it's halo 4 itself. perks, ordnance, PV, global sprint etc. I'm getting 40+ kills a lot more often than i did in previous halos. it's fun, but its mindless stupid fun. I'd kill for halo to go back to how it used to be but I'm not holding my breath. I'll just go with it , I'm tired of bitching about the game

btw according to that list, I'm 5th in the world for numbr of sword kills in halo 4. haha

About time they made a properly 3D Pokemon, but with all the copypasta ones they added in these last generations I just couldn't be bothered with it anymore. I've still got my Red, Blue, Yellow and Silver. All I need.

And my response to a guy sprinting at me with the sword is a Boltshot to the face. Bam said the lady.

And because you want it you will probably think about buying one closer to release, that's how you sell systems lol

Also you know you will cave if they show off a special 3DS|Pokemon bundle :)

Buuuuut, shouldn't the new xbox be right around the corner around that time as well? I think that my resources would be better spent on that than on a 3DS that I'd only use for Pokemon.

You'd want a launch Xbox?
Its been in development long enough and probably won't be rushed like the 360. Already have some money set aside for that and a 3DS XL special edition (which the US has yet to get)

Edit: forgot Super Smash brothers is also coming to 3DS.....there better be a special edition 3DS for one of those games!

It doesn't have to be rushed to be prone to failure, it's just the nature of launch consoles. I never really found the rush to play a limited batch of new games to be worth it in the long run, much rather wait out an iteration or so at least 'til they beef up the hard drive or work out whatever kinks there will invariably be.

unless you equip stealth, a PV user can tell when you have a boltshot (not to mention the distinct sound it makes) and like I mentioned use his other weapon and keep his distance, or time his attack better, or find another enemy player, or wait or a teammate to engage you. and if you're not wielding the boltshot at the time, then the time it takes to switch and charge up to counter the sword you'll probably be dead already especially when they have speed boost

re the boltshot, i despised it at first and refused to use it. now I despise it and it's my secondary. if they want to give us a power weapon as a loadout ill use it. sure as hell hope it doesnt return in the next game.

It's too bad that Waypoint stats are so disjointed that they can't give overall stats on weapon kills/killed by. Finding out that the Boltshot makes up for a little over 1% of all my deaths makes me dislike the weapon a little less.

By the way, new season of Justified is on tonight on FX. Watch it.

The 3D Pokemon looked better than expected, but it won't be the same without sprites. I'm still really hyped though, that trailer was awesome.

Oh, and worldwide release this year is amazing

But srs, stop makin me want a 3DS.

Just wait until E3, Nintendo will announce a new and better handheld with like, more resolution and shit.

Nintendo DS - 2004
Nintendo DS Lite - 2006
Nintendo DSi - 2008
Nintendo DSi XL - 2009
Nintendo 3DS - 2011

2013 will be two whole years before they release another one. That's way too long for them.

But I had to survive in the wilderness everyday, like an animal. Now I'm comfy inside and have some stability with this tag. Time to get fat.

Stability only comes once your tag reads "Banned", and all worries have ceased. Only when all is quiet can we truly know peace.

Intravenously injects you with cocaine while you play. Can't wait.

Welp.

I certainly know I won't be playing much Halo in October, November, and December this year.

Froakie is going to take me all the way to the Pokemon League.

New Pokemon FTW. It looks different too, I've been waiting for them to change it up a bit.

Really needs to be a Wii U Pokemon game though. Using the touchscreen for battles would be great. RIP WII U.

RIP pkmn after gen 2.

The gameplay gets better each gen! Unless you're talking about the lack of cool Pokemon since gen 2, in which case I agree with you.

I have never owned a handheld. Never wanted to. Console and PC 4 life.

You're missing out, so many awesome games on handhelds.

I wouldn't count on a mainline Pokemon game ever being on Wii U unless Nintendo gets really desperate, they've said a bunch of times that it'll never happen. But a Pokemon Stadium sequel would be rad.
