No, I was saying it's good it's temporary.
I can imagine that the last thing Larry Probst wants to do at this stage of his life is step into a CEO role.
That's what makes all of this so stunning. What happened that was a so bad they couldn't even do the normal "stay til the end of the year while we do our search" thing that is generally the norm for major public companies? TWO WEEKS? WTF?

SWTOR failing miserably, Dead Space 3 coming under expectations, rapid, recent degradation of company image and SimCity must have been the cherry on top.
Kotick is worse than Riccitiello in almost every way, so I'm sure Derrick doesn't like him, either.
Did we get the numbers on that? Last I saw, DS3 was the best selling game in North America, last month.

Mike Rowe would probably save the company. He's always been a guy about hard work. But I don't think he's a business man.

It's true. It's just Activision doesn't seem to make many games that GAFers care much about, so a lot of it goes under the radar.

Because for a time he was making EA money, you don't get fired as a CEO on anything but losing the company money on a repeated basis.
Kotick's only crime is whoring their few franchises out. I'm not sure how things stand now but there was a time at least up until very recently where their games were one of the only ones that didn't have ridiculous preorder deals, DRM, or online passes.

Yeah but it has come up on Patch Attack recently too. And to put it mildly, he seemed very concerned about Ricetello's future.
It sold well.
They expected it, however, to sell like 10 million coppies. 'AAAA' was the dumbass term they made up for it.
Predicting the man responsible for SWTOR is going to get fired is like me saying 'Oh I bet Lindsay Lohan isn't going to get cast in many movies in 2013!'
And it seems SimCity's launch debacle got him chopped.
I guess that is a possibility.
Oh yea, forgot about that the worst company thing. They do have a terrible public image since this guy was in charge.

Welp, I'm guessing the financial drop-off of SW:TOR, and the huge negative publicity around ME3 and Simcity, with qualifiers such as Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, etc...
But this still leaves me worried for the future until we get a solid read on whoever (re?)takes the position next.

EA had 5 million+ sales hopes for the franchise by this point. Dead Space 3 will get nowhere remotely close to that, is already price chopped, and even being given away for FREE in the SimCity debacle.

This is very true. Also Kotick has done well to stay out of the limelight recently. I think it's been quite some time since he said anything really, really stupid. He just doesn't say much at all, anymore, on purpose.

I am actually sort of surprised there was no fallout from that Consumerist poll.
Regardless of whether or not you think it was the result of a bunch of whiny internet neckbeards that didn't like Mass Effect 3's ending, the headlines "EA Voted Worst Company in America" for any reasons had to have been making people really nervous.
Might have just been one more straw on the camel's back, though.
