Microsoft Studios' creative director has some choice words about always-online

His reaction says to me that this is happening and that people inside MS are confused and flustered by how people have reacted to the rumors.

Yeah when you have a god awful feature it sure is smart to be a jackass about it. Can't wait for the incoming crash and burn

If there are two mobile carriers on the market and one is spotty and unreliable and the other works no matter what, which one do you buy?

If there are two vacuum cleaners on the market and one doesn't use electricity, which one would you buy?

Keep in mind both cost about the same, but one of the vacuum cleaners/mobile carriers comes with a 6 month exclusivity window on some games.

I really wanted to give Microsoft the benefit of the doubt. They can fuck off and keep their Patriot Act Box.

Also, by this analogy, I can get my phone service from a different provider, so 720 games can be played on my PS4 confirmed?

I don't play my 360 offline. I think cutting potential customers off is dumb but who plays games not connected to the internet?

I only think this is dumb if gold is required.

Wow...so...that means it's happening? I can't imagine MS will be happy about him pretty much confirming that prematurely...

Maybe its a troll? A late April fools?....ugh.

I can count on one hand the number of times the electricity has gone off due to a fault in our house.

Nowhere near comparable.

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
I mean, if I could power my vacuum cleaner without electricity you bet I'd go for that instead. Certainly looking like every other console in existence doesn't require an always-online connection, so you bet I'm going to go for that instead.

I've had a lot of fun with the 360, it's served me well besides the ginormous initial console failures, this dude saying this doesn't fill me with confidence that the Xbox doesn't have the always online requirement.

Weird how this dude is saying all this, it's borderline leaking info about Microsoft.

Maybe instead of crying like a giant nerdy baby, or making games with a requirement that asks something from the player without inherently benefiting them, he could focus on putting out a game that has unique online functionality that specifically enhances the play experience by always being connected?

No?

More Kinect stuff and ESPN integration?

Okay, well, I just thought I'd ask.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
Wow... what a way to break the most negative news about the launch of a system your company just spent hundreds of millions on.

Guy has no brains.

Person devices. Yah. We know what the fuck the subtext is.

If this is happening then I find myself in the loving embrace of the PS4 for my next-gen gaming.

Either...

A) The always-online rumors got to him and he's lashing out blindly, or

B) It's true and this is preliminary damage control.

I'm not taking sides here until we hear something definitive, I'll leave that to #TeamReal and #TeamCG.

Never again will I be burned :(

Either way he added fuel to the fire. Really bad move on his part.

Good lord I hope they don't implement it the same way Blizzard did with Diablo3, as that was just horrendously aweful...

*Your internet has crapped out, so your single player game is now going to exit, and you're going to lose heaps of progress*

Ok so either it's all a ruse or he seriously just got upset over all the news on it and couldn't keep his composure.

Waiting to see how long it takes until MS tells him to erase that off his twitter

It just seems too....easy

This is the opposite of damage control.

It's basically "Hey, we're Microsoft. Fuck you, give us money."

I still don't believe it will be a requirement

The only way I could see it flying if it was, is if all games were $10+ cheaper due to the added security, but even then.. Shutting put kids and the millions of people without internet?

I just very much doubt it. I think we're missing something here. Perhaps some service news or minutiae that would better explain it.
