Santa Monica Studio is no stranger to working with talented indie developers, having helped bring games like Sound Shapes, The Unfinished Swan, and Journey to Sony's platforms. Its latest collaboration is Hohokum, a colorful and creative 2D sandbox game from developer Honeyslug and artist/designer Richard Hogg.

In Hohokum, players control a floating snakelike creature called The Long Mover, exploring a variety of unique, hand-made environments as they help the world's inhabitants, solve puzzles, and just have fun. Santa Monica Studio's Nathan Gary saw an early demo of Hohokum at IndieCade back in 2011, and was so impressed that he raved about the game to the rest of his team. After a few conversations with Honeyslug, the two companies began their collaboration and have been working together ever since.

"@coolpowers: @Dick_Hogg @SonySantaMonica yay! Can you say platforms yet?"

"@Dick_Hogg: @coolpowers @SonySantaMonica Yep. PS3 PS4 and Vita"

I think this need its own topic.

So you play the rainbow snake thing? Sounds really cool, almost sounds like a 2d Noby Noby boy without all of the sexual innuendo. Looking forward to some video.

Meh! Not my type of game.

I want only real next-gen looking games on PS4 please.

Are you serious? If you are, you're entitled to your opinion.

I like seeing the variety of titles that will be available on PS4. Something for everyone and for those of us with ecclectic tastes, we are in gaming heaven.

Did Santa Monica work with other european indie teams before? Kinda surprised it isn't a Xdev game because Honeyslug is UK based.

Dude, its just a let down for me to see something like this for PS4.

Look, I'm all for a variety of titles, but if you are going to develop for PS4 utilize the power of the system!!!

This looks like it was made for current or last gen.

Which is why Vita is so disappointing.

If the game was a full price retail release, I don't think many would disagree with you. But it's a small indie game made by a handful of people that's going to cost like $15.

Even for 15 bucks, it still looks fairly weak for the platform.

I mean, look at a game like Journey. IT was released for around that price and it looks AMAZING on PS3. It has the graphics to match a full fledged release. Just because the game's price is limited, doesn't mean they can't give you the visuals of a more robust release.

Absolutely love the art style and concept of the game. SSM and Sony on the ball again with a good looking indie title.

Looks really cool. Will most likely buy this when I find out more about it. Santa Monica Studio collaborations always turn out awesome.
