The clock may start ticking again at Fox. I’ve learned that the network is looking to bring back signature real-time drama 24 as a limited series. Kiefer Sutherland is in early talks to reprise his Emmy-winning role as Agent Jack Bauer. No deals are in place, but Fox is looking to do 24 as part of its recent push in limited event series. Since 24 ended its Emmyw-winning 8-season run on Fox in 2010, there has been an effort to continue the story in a feature, which never took off. I hear the idea is to start from scratch with a new story arc that will likely be supervised by former 24 showrunner Howard Gordon, who is under a deal at 20th Century Fox TV, the studio behidd 24.

I was just thinking the other day how I missed having a show like 24 on tv.

Let's do it! Focus strictly on Jack. Make him face some enemy that can provide him with an emotional and physical threat. No obvious plot-twists. Maybe make it in a new location? England? Paris? This could be really good.

if there were no subplots and moles, the season would last like 4 hours.

I don't know. Like most long-running shows, it was running out of steam before it finally ended. What more could they do?

They could head down the direction that the DVD movie did and make it a set scenario that only lasts 6 episodes or so. I'd enjoy that.

I am very okay with that. Season 8 was actually a pretty good return to form considering the mediocre seasons that preceded it.

If 24 were a CW show with a budget of 200 bucks.

24 wishes it could have been as consistently well written like Nikita is. As for the budget, Nikita does fine, the big impractical explosions are bad, but for the most part things are grounded enough that the stakes don't get too crazy for the budget to take a hit.

plus the female cast of Nikita > all the females in 24.

Holy shit.

24 and Jack Bauer back on our TV screens, and without all the filler that leads to goofy subplots? Holy shit.

This is the most exciting TV news in the past several years.

Same. Granted I would love to hear the Cougar song in Happy Endings or Alex eating a cougar. Why? Because that is funny.

Apparently the pitched an idea where Alex is deathly afraid of cougars (as in, old women who have sex with young men) but either Sony or ABC dinged it.
