But what about the cloud.
exactly, no infinite power of the cloud for Sony (hopefully it will pan out for MS in the future)
But what about the cloud.
its this one quote which shuts down all the used game drm rumors imo, i hope its true

Sony have a patent for offline used game controls with NFC/RFID.
There must still be a way to spin it.
That never made sense to me. Sometimes it seems like Sony purposely tries to lose money. Take PS+ for example: it's become such a good service it's incentivizing people NOT to buy games. I'm sure the loss of sales is higher than the cost of PS+.Remember when Jack Tretton encouraged gamesharing?
lol
there must be a loophole in there somewhere, it will have the same drm as the xbox one, it has to,PLEASE GOD
If you don't require an internet connection, you can't enforce anti-used games.
Of course you can.
And incase some people can't make the next logical connection.
You can't have DRM on games, if you don't require a net connection before every play

I am a skeptical person, but these statements are so razor clear I don't really know what wiggle room is left to them. The outcry would be legion if they lied this egregiously; Microsoft never claimed Xbox One wouldn't be always online (or close, anyway, like it is now), they always had the leaks hazing the system wherever they want. The May 21 reveal only confirmed the negative details.

Seriously, though, who is on this forum is never going to go online with the next-gen systems? You'd be throwing half or more of the next-gen value proposition away by not connecting. Games updates, DD releases, DLC, system updates. That's just the mandatory reasons to have to connect. I highly doubt that it will be so easy to avoid having to connect. Until they detail the behavior the console without connection, I don't trust simple statements especially when those guys aren't going to be directly involved or won't be able to dictate what everyone else making games for the system are doing.
cjcool804 said:I agree but Sony has a long history of going back on what they promised and out right lying. That's there history.
Just because someone says something, doesn't mean it is true.
How?
Oh yes, yes, you can go offline totally.
Wow that's great. So it's like my XBONE then?

you have to buy a ps4
L... O... LPS4 Eye sees from your eyes when you are displeased with the game and scratches the disk immediately to prevent you from trading it in.
Actually I should patent this shit the first chance I get.

Stay tuned to E3 for finality, but I think this OP should make a lot of people feel better!

for most people always on for 24 hours check isnt a problem. the main problem is used games, which sony is gonna have to follow if they want the big publishers to release their games on it aswell
How?
hahaha dudeSo XBONE doesn't have DRM?
Not even by hardware?
No. It really isn't.
Okay PR bullshit tell me your secrets.
Q: Is the PS4 console is designed to be connected in a 'permanent' way? What I'm asking is it will need to be connected all the time? And if so, how will this affect plans for PSN?
A: PlayStation 4 is not a permanent connection system in that sense, but the experience is much richer if you are connected. You will have access to digital content and the updates for your games, along with a wide range of social functions: upload videos and screenshots, see your friends play and interact with them in various ways within the games.
So what is the question. Connected all the time? Probably not. Just like XBONE doesn't require such a thing.
PlayStation 4 can still be enjoyed old school without an Internet connection at all.
Sure it can be enjoyed that way. Not unlike XBONE I am right?
Did we consider it? No, we didn't consider it. The main reason being that many countries don't have robust Internet connections.
Robust=stable? If so then I think this is pretty self-explanatory. Could be that something was lost in translation

Apparently some of them are.I hope some of you guys are getting paid for this because it's fantastic.
Just because someone says something, doesn't mean it is true.
I can play my Xbox One just fine 99,99% of time. Wouldn't you say it's going "offline competely"?

You're an idiot. These quotes clearly differentiate the PS4's use of online functions from what the XBOne will be doing. In the PS4's case, you don't need an internet connection, period.
