MS Cancels 1 on 1 Interviews with GB, GI.biz, Tapezilla...MCV?: "Scheduling conflict"

Yes I do. They're a very Xbox/PC-centric site. The majority of quicklooks and TNT games played are either xbox or PC, Patrick is the one person there who seems to have spent more time with PS3, which is what my post is about. I don't think he's a Sony fanboy, or the others are MS fanboys though.

The quick looks are done with the copies the publishers send. GB doesnt call them up and say, "Hey, we prefer Xbox, so please send us that."

Odd that they would cancel on Giant Bomb who have been one of the few positive outlets for the Xbone, they did not really raise much of a stink regarding the DRM and always online, even at points defended it. Compared to pretty much everyone else they have been very nice to them and their reveal. Also odd that they would cancel it now, just mere days before the event

I have a feeling E3 is sorta begging tonight with this news, we got that leak of Respawns exclusive, this and more will come, more leaks and breaking stories will happen, they are bound to

Dont know what to tell you, other than hold on, strap yourself and...get ready

Sony fans seem to be so high on all the bad PR fumes coming from MS right now that they've completely forgotten how the PS3 struggled to make a dent in the market, and how it took Sony freaking 6 years to even tie with MS.

Get off your horse and listen: I love their current position: They're back at a point where they actually matter and could lead again, but they have to remain hungry to do so. Complacency is not an option. That's why I'm looking forward to the PS4.
It's not going to be sabotaged by a complacent arrogant as shit 2006 Sony. It will be supported by a hungry rejuvenated Sony that actually wants to fight.

The same was true for MS when they launched the 360, and why it was one of the best consoles I ever owned.

uhh isn’t the ps3 selling more worldwide despite starting a year later? .. It actually looks like 360 is third place this gen.....

My favorite thing about these recent Microsoft bad news threads are the "Hey, so the story was only partially true, so we can just close this thread now" posts.

It's easily the most entertaining part.

It'll be interesting to see if more are cancelled, and if so how critical said sites/journos have been of Microsoft to this point. Then we can see for sure if it's tinfoil hat stuff or really as bad as it's sounding.

"Scheduling conflict"

was the same excuse they gave for canceling the e3 Q&A right?

Scheduling is hard, damnit! It's not as if there's any way to organize a schedule electronically!

Jesus... Do you spend any time on GB? They're about the most platform agnostic guys you'll find because generally speaking, they don't give a shit about pretty much anything. Patrick is the closest to someone who cares about anything that you'll find on GB, but claiming he's near being a Sony fanboy? I just don't understand people.

This isn't even close to true. Lets not be disingenuous.

Why do I even bother explaining myself, people are in crazy mode anyway...

You recognize all this, and you don't see the parallels in the hubris exhibited by Sony 7 years ago and what's exhibited by Microsoft this time? Did anyone expect a 120 million console that dominated a generation to turn around and barely tie for last place the next one? The same thing could certainly happen to MS, and they didn't even sell near the 120 million.

And they're not hungry. They're completely complacent and Sony caught them with their pants down. They're scrambling to not suck and not riding a wave of hunger to propel them forward.

Remember, Sony is playing catch-up, and have mattered very little this last generation.

I'm not a "Sony" fan. I'm a dedicated 360 gamer this gen, as are all of my regular gaming friends. But to say that Sony "mattered very little" this generation and that they "barely made a dent" in the market is simply not true...

People look for negatives because ms has given them every reason to seek them out. Its all there own doing. They need to hit thise e3 out of the park to change peoples mind set.

The hell? Yes that's why I sold my 360 with 40 games and am going PS4 this gen if Sony isn't doing the same DRM shit like MS. If they do, fuck both of them.

Yet there is no denying that the press and publishers would rather bet on MS to be the dominant platform holder again thus playing softball with them in order to maintain goodwill.

Well it's pretty understandable. Just like publishers, the press doesn't want to sour ties with what they expect to be the dominant platform holder.

Remember, Sony is playing catch-up, and have mattered very little this last generation.

ANY journalist going into a story with expectations ain't worth shit.

One scheduling conflict, sure. Two, well... someone sucks at scheduling, but fine.

Three scheduling conflicts? Yeah, something's probably a bit fishy here. But let's see if they reschedule or find more conflicts.

Or how they perceive as facts PR excuses from professional bullshiters like Major Nelson...

Care to elaborate being just saying I'm wrong?

They have a clear preference for games that are played on Microsoft hardware and Microsoft operating systems. There is nothing wrong with that, and they have always been upfront with it. Therefore, painting a picture of them as some impartial entity that aren't heavily influenced by Microsoft is wholly inaccurate.

One way or another, MS fucked up. Either they really cancelled interviews and are now backpedaling, or they innocently mismanaged important journalism contacts (aka amateur hour).

Wasn't Gerstmann mocking forum dwellers yesterday for being mad about the roundtable cancellation. Saying how stupid and clueless we were? Certain irony about GB getting their 1 on 1s cancelled.

*Wears Tinfoil hat*
Someone asked who they were, well, to tell you honestly , I had no idea about 5 minutes back.
I am not saying, theirs was cancelled just because......

Did the other sites whose interviews were cancelled also give them bad press?

P.S. High Five to the guy who tweeted this. Pure Gold and unfortunately the truth.

Lost all credibility.
Is Sony treating press the same way? I'm just wondering if they've been scheduling and/or canceling E3 interviews too. E3 is a pretty big event with lots of appointments so it'd make sense to me that these companies would end up with a bunch of scheduling conflicts when all is said and done.

I'm sure they'll excuse Microsoft for this as well.
