A very smart poster has hypothesized that Sony is trying to keep up appearances while they launch the PS4 so as to not spook their various partners.

Makes some sense to me.

Why wouldn't it bomb. It has no marketing presence. They advertised both RE6 and ORC. In fact they were airing ads for RE6 when RE:R was originally releasing but acted as if RE:R didn't even exist.. The failure of RE:R selling both times is completely on Capcom.

Yeah I was gonna say. I had a 360 the day it came out. I was also the only person I knew in college to have it for that year. Then some people got it for Gears, but most stuck to PS2.

Contrary to what some may think, I don't believe that new consoles are the answer to this. The industry has been stagnating because the market hasn't really offered anything new or fresh for quite some time. Looking at next-gen I don't see that stopping. I expect the Xbone and the PS4 to perform quite mediocre.

Vita is a joke. Nice piece of tech, but it's a flat-out joke. The thing's not even 18 months old, and it's already less than 20K. All you can do is laugh at it and how Sony is handling it.

And if you're thinking that consumers are going to jump at a $250 secondary device after buying a $400 PS4? You'd do well to pinch yourself and wake up from that dream now.

Could be, but at this point, it'll be a miracle if it has any significant US retail shelf presence by early next year.

So do these numbers include digital or are they timeframe comparisons (first x weeks on market)? Because 9.7 > 9.0, but LM was outsold by DK per NPD.

Edit: Wait, does this mean Wii DKC moved over 7K units? That's kind of surprising.
