BioShock Infinite DLC: Clash in the Clouds (Horde) & Burial At Sea (Rapture) revealed

I actually really enjoyed BioShock Infinite's gameplay. Even then, eh, I'm not interested in Clash in the Clouds.

Burial at Sea, on the other hand, sounds right down my alley.

like how getting baptized somehow makes you a racist dictator for starters. I'm having a hard time buying into that was the singular moment where everything changed, but they abandoned ship right after so, who cares

It was about the symbolism of that moment. Of course that specific action didn't cause everything but without it there was nothing to build from.

It will be funny if they present you with a locked door and a lockpick on a table but you are incapable of picking it up, instead you can casually tell people that there is a lockpick right over there.

Playing as Elizabeth consists of a typical FPS game in which you have a gun that shoots ammo and health and salt at allies.

It was too much of a stretch for me, there are a lot of different directions one can go once they "find religion", I just wasn't convinced. I felt the moment leading up to that big reveal didn't have enough substantial clues to make it a sensible payoff

BIG BLACK BARS!

As far as I understood, Rapture and Columbia were two sides to the same coin and exist in alternate universes. If Liz and Booker exist in all universes then I don't see a reason for them to not exist in the world of Rapture as well.
That's a reasonable theory, but it begs the question, does Booker have a beginning? Is he an omnipresent immortal? I assumed he was always born after the Civil War (wouldn't he be in his 80s in 1958?) and it was the Luteche's experiments that caused the timey wimey stuff to happen - that's when the timelines/universes split.

You know what, fuck it. Irrational just loves to have all their games connected. I bet the hacker from System Shock is Booker too.

I've always said ever since I finished Bioshock 1 that they should do a detective story in Rapture, guess someone listened!

You're also not taking into account the context of the baptism and how Booker's past affected his branching futures. Once he 'found religion' in some realities maybe he just became a nice pastor in some small town, but that's not what concerned Elizabeth and Booker since in some realities he became Comstock and used the scientist lady to create these tears. They had to stop that reality from happening and did so the best way they could.

Because shows rupture. If a new player
get to the ending and see rupture, is not going to be that "surprise" like before.
Well, shame on who not played until now.

Uh, people wouldn't necessarily know that
you visit Rapture in Infinite
they could just think it's a fun throw-back.

While I'm sure it will be decent, it's a bit disappointing we are getting more Rapture and not more Columbia. We have already had two games and DLC in Rapture Ken.

So does horde mode already count as the first DLC? and Burial At Sea is the second?

I hope not, couldn't care less about Clash in the Clouds.

I bought the season pass before finishing Infinite because the game was blowing me away. The DLC that comes out today is not what I expected when I hear single player DLC. Oh well, lesson learned. Burial at Sea looks like it could be great though.

Well a detective story will make for a good excuse to "pay a visit" to characters we already know. It will probably be a huge missed opportunity if we don't get to see characters like Sander Cohen and all again.

Horde Mode is DLC 1 and Burial at Sea is 2 and 3.

So how much will the two Burial at Sea packs cost? If they will cost $10 each, you could buy the season pass now and get CitC for free.

I definitely want to play Burial at Sea.

So horde mode and a single player campaign split into two parts makes the promised three pieces of story driven content?

Once again I am punched in the face repeatedly for being stupid enough to buy into the lofty promises of yet another Season Pass.

He was always a racist as his abhorrent actions in the Battle of Wounded Knee show. After that he was at a crossroad of either facing his mistakes (rejecting baptism) or feeling like he was absolved and therefore justified in his actions (accepting baptism). If anything, the Booker we play with is the one who changed the most from his past while Comstock continued in the path of misguided beliefs.

His different outlooks on life are what take him in the very different paths, but other stuff also work in the equation like Comstock getting cancer, being unable to have kids, etc. I can see where you're coming from regarding the build up though. I think it was a satisfying payoff, I was suspecting something of the sort when Booker kills Comstock in the airship, but wasn't sure of how the specifics would work.

This thread should have a big ENDGAME SPOILERS warning on the title honestly, it's virtually impossible to discuss the story DLC without going into big spoilers and it will be black bar city for no reason.

Lol at the first few pages, "THIS DLC LOOKS TERRIBLE! OH MY GOD BURIAL AT SEA LOOKS AMAZING!"

I can't wait for this, I was hoping for DLC but I wasn't expecting to see Rapture alive before its demise. I'm beyond excited for this.

Burial at Sea seems pretty intriguing.
Clash in the Clouds screams to me "don't waste yourself, reinstall Bulletstorm and enjoy challenges with decent gunplay/physics".

Why would you be in this thread if you haven't finished Infinite yet?

Eh, I've been waiting for an excuse to jump back into Infinite, so these will do it since I already bought the season pass anyways. Bit disappointed that one is a single player horde mode clone, and the other one is split into two parts, so that they fill their quota of three DLCs. Ah well, haven't tried them yet, so can't judge it too harshly. As long as I get a few hours of enjoyment out of the first one, and several out of Burial At Sea Pts. 1&2 I'll be content.

Where did they claim there would three pieces of story driven content?

http://irrationalgames.com/insider/irrational-games-announces-bioshock-infinite-season-pass/

Irrational Games today announced that production of downloadable content has recently begun for BioShock Infinite and revealed details of the BioShock Infinite Season Pass. Three all-new add-on packs will provide hours of additional gameplay and continue the player’s journey in the sky-city of Columbia with new stories, characters, abilities and weapons.

Those who purchase the BioShock Infinite Season Pass will also receive the Early Bird Special Pack at no extra cost. This bonus pack contains four pieces of exclusive gear, a Machine Gun Damage Upgrade, a Pistol Damage Upgrade, a gold skin for both weapons and five Infusion bottles that allow players to increase their health, their shield durability or their ability to use Vigors by increasing the quantity of Salts they can carry.

The BioShock Infinite Season Pass will be available on March 26, 2013 when the game is planned to launch, and provide nearly $30.00 of add-on content for $19.99 (PlayStation®Network, Windows® PC) or 1,600 Microsoft Points (Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network) – a savings of more than 30%. The Season Pass will include all three add-on packs, and can be pre-ordered today through www.bioshockinfinite.com or at a participating retailer.

The thing with
alternate universes
is that literally anything is possible. So even if
Booker and Elizabeth were flying on weird pig-like creatures on a terraformed Jupiter, it would make sense because anything is possible in the Bioshock universe.
I actually think it's pretty cheap to integrate
alternate universes
into a story because it could explain anything.

Damn Liz looks like a doll.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. A warning is a good idea though, I've seen how these threads go for sequels and DLC and there's always someone whining about spoilers otherwise. We shouldn't even be using spoiler tags here imo.

Agreed.

As someone who disliked the story in Infinite, hated the ending but literally jumped out of his seat when Booker was back in rapture the story dlc has me fucking excited. I always, always wanted to go back to rapture pre destruction, the hints in the opening of bio 2 were great but I wanted more. This is exactly, to the letter, what I wanted from another Bioshock experience. The game may suck but if they go full hog and give me the experience of being among the citizens then it will be a perfect gamign experience for me.
