Yeah looks like pers...i mean mind/zero isn't doing too hot

Nippon Ichi made money this quarter. Net profit: 27 million yen (or 270k dollars)

Operating results by segment:
- Packaged: -37 million yen (loss)
- Online: 80 million yen (profit)
- Licensing: 22 million (profit)
- Others: 16 million (profit)

Goodbye japan i hardly knew ye. Well maybe if a bunch of crap starts clogging the system it'll force quality up....right...right?!!

I wouldn't be surprised to see dq11 as a ios game.

Not just an iOS game, but a social, online iOS game with IAP.

This is the modern-day, "streamlined" Square Enix we're talking about. There's a good chance that a conventional Dragon Quest XI ala. Dragon Quest IX will not happen.

This is highly doubtful. The money they make at full price retail would take years anywhere else. Now i do think Dragon Quest mobile/ios is coming but until this series starts selling less than 3 million copies, there is no chance. FF15 is coming out. Also the buildup to it on 3DS will have been a waste.

The game is crappy and has bad word of mouth, not surprising.

Yeah disappointing it turned out bad

I'm actually surprised at the Disney Magic Castle. I wonder what the perception is of this in Japan. I've played for 2 hours thus far and really enjoying it but the graphics feel very unpolished (not noticeable in the trailer) and it makes me wonder whether they raced to get it released pre-MH4/Pokémon X & Y. Gameplay wise it feels very Animal Crossing so far, but I'm yet to unlock anything of note and the game hasn't really began yet.

I agree that it would be logical to continue the installments per the norm on 3DS, given the "Dragon Quest Monsters" titles and the "Dragon Quest VII" remake.

But considering the modern day circumstances, I legitimately believe that there is a good chance that we'll see future titles in the Dragon Quest series experiment outside of conventionality to pursue (the delusion of) greater profits.

You can't take anything for granted with this company these days. This is the same company that thought they would make the most profits by releasing TWO direct sequels to Final Fantasy 13 and a Dragon Quest X MMO for Wii.

If I'm reading this blog right, Disney Magic Castle shipment is above 200k.
So first day sales ~60k??

Speaking of DQ, the Wiiu and Wii versions are being discounted to 4000 yen following the release of the pc version.

Also, on the eshop, there's a little bit of marketing for the release of the 1.5 expansion.

Perhaps we might see a bump for it.

I don't know what this game is about (probably anime), but it's going to slay Japan. It's everywhere.

You may remember the previous game based on the anime, or at least the gifs.

So I'll ask this again, what do you guys think about MHF release date? Could Nintendo be planning something for December?

...You.

...YOU MONSTEEEEEEEER (not Hunter).

I still dont understand the 3 week gap between the MHF games. In fact, you would think nintendo would want it in Nov if dkc doesnt make it. I guess they are trying to stack December the best they can? Is there any theoretical announcement for wiiu that seems somewhat likely in the next direct which should be announced any day now.

I always have this feeling that Retro is working on something else. I mean DK doesn't seem to have the scope that would make me believe that the entire Retro studios is working on it.

Amazon also made the page for the relaunch of DQX:

http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00E950BQU/

Will be launched at the same day as Zelda and Epic Mickey. Perhaps so they can get a little bit of the wind carried by Zelda.

And Jojo is going to be preeeetty big. Lots of hype going everywhere. The anime really reignited a passion for Jojo.

I don't believe Nintendo wants the Wii U version to come at a later point. In fact, I think it will hurt the version compared to the PS3 version. In my opinion, the most likely reason is that Capcom wants the game to be released close to Mario, where possibly some people might buy a Wii U.

Sony might've paid (e.g. extra advertising, etc.) for a few weeks exclusivity considering the first three weeks could be 60-70% of the LTD for the game (or more). Better for PS3 to have those sales to itself instead of trying to split it with the (meager) portion for Wii U. Definitely cheaper than trying to get a MH4 port or something.

If Sony are going to pay for MH exclusivity they aren't going to pay for a few weeks on a game available on PC, Xbox 360, and Wii U.

Am i missing something? Why would it have a bigger bump than this week?

It doesn't seem like much of a bump at all to me. I imagine word of mouth will help give it a small boost consider how well it sold compared to the PS3 version - but seemingly only to Vita owners. Perhaps not, hopefully it won't drop much anyway.

also you're missing faith in vita

There's nothing coming out next week that would provide a boost to the Vita. Or am I forgetting something?
