Official: Xbox One in only 13 markets in '13; Free game for delayed preorderers

So then is Japan a 2015 country? That is insane if that's what is implied.
One month ago that poland site said there were 4 wave(it seems Japan use "tier" because Japanese don't care this word like gaf, when i saw 2ch discussing this news) and it said wave 3 is 2013 June

Xboned is going to fail in EU. thank god it is delayed in Sweden. We want Sweden to be remain a Sony country!

Yield problems confirmed.

Sweden is pretty evenly divided IIRC, atleast by the looks of the salesdata on Webhallen and elsewhere (their top sellers etc).

i thought UT was coming to ps4 said an EA person. unless that was debunked.

UT is coming to PS4 and PS3, it was a specific mode within UT that would be exclusive.

and in closing... wow... just wow...

lol, good luck in Sweden, not that they had any chance even before but now they are really doomed.

I'll probably still keep my xbone preorder though. Will it still be a day one edition? :P

Well at 2007 - 2008 future of Xbox in Japan looked quite good. It even sold more than PS3 for few weeks (didn't beat Wii but it was such a beast back then).
After 2009 Microsoft acted like they've forgotten what they have been doing up to 2008 :(

Oh, that happened? Missed the tweet i guess.
I think he's referring to this

Wonder how many Europeans in those countries will take a one hour drive to a store in their supported neighbours on launch day.

And Sony won Europe already in August.

Not surprising though they have to fight to retain majority of their market share in the US and UK.

It's not fun without a battle anyways. No one cared that the Wii was way above everyone last gen. The battle was always betwen 360 and PS3. Competition is good and all that jazz. blah blah blah.

Wait, so you mean to tell me that stupid rumor from the other thread about the Xbone being delayed in Europe was mostly true?

Holy shit, they must really be having yield issues after all.

Microsoft secures Ultimate Team for FIFA14, yet fails to release its console in the large parts of FIFAs market. I wonder how EA will feel about that.

They haven't secured the whole mode Ultimate Team for FIFA 14, they have secured a extra mode for Ultimate Team. UT is still coming to PS3 and PS4

MS basically paid X dollars to get this extra DLC for the online mode, Sony paid 0,00€ to have FIFA 14 exclusive this holiday season in many FIFA loving European countries.

So next-gen call of duty will be "exclusive" to PS4 in these countries for months to come? Nice thinking Microsoft. You just lost all of the hardcore call of duty players. You dropped the ball Microsoft. All of the balls. And Sony just picks them up.

Well, nice move from MS for the impacted countries.
Though... what will the free game be I wonder... Some cheap arcade game I wonder... Ha ha

Regardless, they still had no obligation to do so.
Though I wonder just how many units MS plan to sell in the 13 countries... It still seems to me the majority want a PS4 more..., well, we'll see.

You seem to forget that Sony aims to ship 16 million consoles this year. Their commitment to a worldwide launch only adds to the certainty that Sony is having a much easier time producing units than MS.

So yeah, I have literally 0 reasons to even rationalize or spin in a positive way what MS is being forced to do.
Yep. It really feels like Sony has all their ducks in a row. I think they'll launch in NA in late Oct, with nearly all of EU and JP in the weeks after. Man, can't wait for Gamescom announcements. Just six days left.

Original Xbone was supposed to launch in all those countries. Xbone 180 can't due to time constraints. Can't flip dem switches fast enough.

The Sony 16 million units from what I've seen was a rumor and it didn't specify FY or CY. Sony's FY is in March and when a company references a year and they have a non-CY FYE they are referring to their internal FY. Most retail companies have a FYE in January so they capture all sales through X-mas and can clean up and show low inventory.

Has Sony specified where its launching other than worldwide? MS is also launching worldwide.

That's pretty shitty news. I wasn't gonna get the Xbox One till 2014, but it sucks for all the people who were planning on buying it on release.

That said, the Netherlands will probably get extra RTL apps!!!

Everyone else (Japan, Greece, Poland, Portugal, rest of Asia, Africa, etc.): why would you live there?

I see what you did there.

Even though I live in one of the affected countries I feel a bit sorry for some of my friends who were avid supporters of the 360. Even though they had poor launches with their last two consoles, Sony and Nintendo have done a better job of conducting worldwide (or near-worldwide) launches than Microsoft.

To me this seems like poor planning or damage control to try to have the most stock available in the countries where they hold the strongest market share instead of having countries with units sitting on the shelves.

All these "I'll go PS4 then" posts. Do we know if Sony is potentially doing the same? I wouldn't think any consumer electronics device would launch in every single country around the world at once. Someone will always be left out right? Isn't this the way Apple does it? 15 or so up front, then the rest later?
That's what you're hoping now, right?

Brazil is still Tier 1? Cool. I really hope Sony also follows that.

I'm not getting the Xbox One (it's too expensive here, and has no games that interest me), I want the PS4, but I also wouldn't cry if Sony lost some sales to Microsoft because they delayed the launch here.

Wow.

Not only it comes a whole month after the PS4, they're dropping a lot of countries on top of it.

The number of sales and opportunities they're losing with this strategy will be gigantic.
