Microsoft Store outs Halo Xbox One story overview

I hope so. I miss playing the newest Halo game right up until the next one is released.

I feel you there. Halo 2 to Halo 3 and Halo 3 to Reach. We had 4 days a weeks that we would get 3-4 hours worth of games in but once Reach came out, it just kinda sucked that kind of fun away. I'm still playing 4 from time to time but not religiously like I have with past entries.

Still a big let-down. The Gravemind arc was obviously concatenated because they ran out of time, but I always wondered how it would have played out.

I feel like Microsoft was breathing down their neck for the entire development of Halo 3 to make it less complex than Halo 2. No more boss battles, no new characters, a simpler storyline, etc.

Awesome.

I like the Flood so hopefully this is true. The Precursors are some serious badasses on a Cosmic Horror type of scale but it would be nice to know more about them beyond Silentium in-game.

If Hercules being capitalized actually means something, I'm going to say that it involves the human counter to the Promethean War Sphinx. Think Jaeger from Pacific Rim meets the Mantis.

Actually, that sounds plausible.

Look carefully at the stars. The Path of Dorito is already laid out for us.

Q4 2013 - Battlefield 4
Spring - Titanfall
Late 2014 - Halo 5

Follow your dew, bro.

If they actually add the Flood it will be interesting to see the battles. Humans vs. Covenant vs. Promethean's vs. the Flood. Most we've seen is 3 factions at once (Unless you count the sentinels).

Who comes up with this shit? I mean the back of Halo 4 was ridiculous. Armed with deadly technology, the universe will never be the same (consequence will never be the same).

I get they have to be vague but that makes little sense. Is it a sequel or what? Why is herculean used as a word and capitalized and what is considered sentient?

I'm assuming they mean the Flood then? But then why spend all this time building up Forerunners, Didact, talking about how Reclamation had begun etc.

I actually liked 4's campaign and I've been with halo from the beginning. The multiplayer wasn't bad compared to reach, but its no 3. I feel like bungie ruined the multiplayer with jetpacks and now its hard to take them out and pretend they don't exist anymore. I think 343 desires another chance, when you bring people from all over to form a new company to take on a beloved series, there's going to be some mistakes. If they don't learn from them then id say its ok to move on.

Agreed.

I enjoyed the campaign a lot. I was more emotionally attached to the story than any other halo. The mp was fun enough, better than reach. I'm buying their next halo day one.

I liked the campaign a lot too, but there's no escaping it could have been better paced, especially concerning the Cortana infodump that happens mid-way through the game and terminals.

I feel like the story they were setting up showed a lot of promise, but unfortunately a lot of core Halo fans have a big enough fixation with the idea of terminals that we will probably always have to supplement the narrative told through gameplay with FMVs/content outside of the game.

yeah the pacing was off, and the didact and his intentions could have been explained more in game. They did mention that how they implemented him was wrong and left people feeling like they didn't get his whole intentions, so they know they messed up. They also mentioned that the terminals were going to be in the game, but due to disk space they couldn't do it, so at least on the One we'll have terminals accessible in the game.

I feel like Microsoft was breathing down their neck for the entire development of Halo 3 to make it less complex than Halo 2. No more boss battles, no new characters, a simpler storyline, etc.

And then when they take control of Halo completely from Bungie, they decide to make Halo 4. A game whose story assumes you've read the novels, and starts throwing in characters without explaining who they are or why they're important.

love me some halo. i enjoyed 4 but yeah, if the promethians are back, please let them be interesting enemies to kill. they bored the shit out of me.

cloak chief looks awesome.

I totally "read" those books and do not remember this.
That's fan art of The Primordial based on its description in the novel. I can't remember if it was considered a Gravemind or a Keymind (the ultimate Flood form, more powerful than even a Gravemind).

Other than the Primordial/Timeless One, the Precursors took many forms. They're pretty much considered non-corporeal and god-like beings (they're considered Tier 0) that may predate the birth of the universe itself. Really hoping the future Halo games expand on this.

Hopefully they push the "loneliness" factor a bit more this time. Halo 4 went really downhill for me when UNSC showed up. Hey - it's like the old games and we changed nothing!
