Okay... so I have a few questions as I'm not going through all pages of this thread?

What is Away?

And what is WiiWare? The new FFCC looks quite cool..
Wii Ware is the software download service on Wii. If you go into the Wii Shopping Channel you are given the option to enter the Virtual Console store (which everyone knows about, legally emulated games from a bunch of old system) or the Wii Ware store. Wii Ware currently only includes the Opera Browser and the Everybody Votes channel.

Nintendo announced earlier this year they would be releasing new games through Wii Ware (once again not like VC, which is strictly older, emulated titles). It's digital distribution for new Wii games. The games service will launch in March 2008 and will include a new Super Soldier, Dr. Mario, Bomberman, and this new Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles title.

No no, the Wii is embezzling gaming by sneaking franchises to their system.
Its all part of coping.

I get that you're being cute about the system warzzz, but I'm serious: Monster Hunter has traditionally died on its arse outside of Japan, so I'm interested to see if all the cheerleaders it's suddenly picked up in the last 12 hours are actually going to play the game.

OP is confusing me.

SSBX = SSBB?

Did SSBB get delayed?

SSBX is Japan name for SSBB. (Super Smash Bros X)

Yes, SSBB also got delayed. It's confirmed on the dojo now. Release date is TBD in US. Japan release date is 2008-1-24.

I'm unclear on this as well, and I've been in the thread since page 11 or so.

Away is the new IP announced by Mistwalker last week.

Here you go.

Now you're going too far. Fire Emblem DS is an amazing announcement and really the highlight of the event. We've been waiting for this for three years.

Fire Emblem DS is amazing, no doubt, but I expected it at some point, so is not "shocking" (for me at least). Is automatically one of my most anticipated games of course.

Away is one of the two new DS RPGs Mistwalker and AQ Interactive announced last week. Game design/scenario by Hironobu Sakaguchi, music by Nobuo Uematsu, and art/character design by Naoto Oshima (creator of Sonic, Eggman, NiGHTS, Burning Rangers, etc.).

For Wii? I totally missed this...

EDIT: DS I see. I remember seeing that now.

Is huge, but after the Olympic games and Snake it was a safe bet, made sense.

The most shocking news of this event, for unexpected, has been MH 3 and I am far from happy about it.

we all know animal crossing is being develop, i mean, its fucking obvious. So where is it nintendo? kid icarus, pilotwings and f zero also needs revivals, stat.

After hearing about Sonic and Mario Olympics for the first time, I just assumed it was a matter of time before they announced Sonic in Brawl.

I think it's good news but not really shocking at least to me. He has always been the most requested character.

can anyone tell me what Monster Hunter is like? the only images i can conjure up are pokemon style games (which i can gather is NOT what its like) :D
Ever play an MMO? It's a kind of streamlined MMO, except you can play either online or offline (at least with the PSP version). I say "streamlined" because there isn't an emphasis on fighting gazillions of minions of some fantasy evil bad guy to gain experience points and learn new spells. All that shit is taken out. You're left with quests to kill monsters and collect items from the gameworld (like fishing, mining, foraging for plants and berries, and so forth). When you make a kill you can harvest it for meat, fur, bones, scales, and so forth. Those materials may need to be turned in to complete quests OR they may be collected to be sold OR to be crafted into new equipment. Monster Hunter skips the concept of "experience" and replaces it with gaining phat loot, mostly by crafting it from the things you forage or kill.

It's multiplayer, meaning you have to collaborate to successfully kill some creatures. The game world is rather large, split up into zones (like many MMOs)- huge for the PSP. There are many different types of creatures, each with defined traits, weaknesses, harvestable items, fighting styles, and so on. There are also a couple dozen or so boss creatures, which range from "big" to "fuckin huge". Your character can craft hundreds of items of clothing and wield dozens of weapons from nine (or so) different weapon classes, and each type of weapon has its own individual animations and control. It's strategic, it's hard, and each game provides hundreds of hours of gameplay if you intend to complete it.

In a word, it's awesome.

I could cry, hearing the news of Monster Hunter 3's Wii-ness... I seriously could cry.

This is such a disappointment! This was the game I was most looking forward to going to next-gen... tears! I cry them.

I can see why someone would be disappointed a game series they like isn't coming to PS3, particularly one that was announced for the system more than a year ago.

Inafune ? I'm really, really curious to hear his justifications for this particularly interesting plateforms switching. Him - probably the biggest supporter of the high end next-gen consoles at Capcom, of all people...

I smiled, I laughed, I played 300 hours.. it is my favorite game as of this moment.

Every time I stood in awe of MH's graphical glory on the tiny but brave PSP, there was a fleeting moment where I imagined this series to flourish on more powerful hardware.. this series has always seemed as if the hardware it ran on was just not powerful enough to harnass the true concept of the game.. with the advent of the 360 and the PS3, we finally reached the stage where this was not just a dream anymore...

I'm going to buy a Wii, and get MH Tri, but I will have to keep that dream inside of me.. until??

You might want to wait until you see/know more about the Wii version first.

Inafune: "PS3 is selling bad and Wii is the new hotness and I need to make money to fund ML3"

Holy crap I was going to say MH3 will come to PS3 down the track after the Wii version due to Capcom's stance on being multi-platform this gen, but the removal of the game on the site is not assuring for the PS3. I still think it will come to the PS3 eventually.

I never play the PSP version, I only played MH, MHG, MH2 Dos. What ya said is true that the hardware it ran on was just not powerful enough to harnass the true concept of the game. But now utilizing the Wiiremote, it will CHANGE the experience!

Cooking meat with the Wiimote, man thats badass!!!:D Not to mention, Gunlance!!!:lol
