Something about the announcement just before E3 made me think it was shoved in as a response to the PS4 as opposed to a core part of the system.
It says it will -only- be able to be shared over Xbox Live at launch... doesn't sound like Twitch is going to available at launch or am I reading it wrong? It's frankly hard to keep track anymore.
This is just the same as the PS4 isn't it? Youtube uploading coming later
I'm guessing the policy switch set them back a bit.
Features on the PS4 are also being released later (Gaikai) so I don't know what the big deal is. You can still share over the LIVE network.

I'm almost expecting to open the box and get an IOU note at this point.
Will the clips be stored on the harddrive, so that they can be uploaded to Youtube and Facebook later on?
Rather than a 'supposed to be launched in 2014' assumption, what if the Game DVR was never part of the XB1 design, and was a feature that only materialised after February 2013?

Really.
Since Albert Penello is fond of saying that the reasons all these sorts of delays are happening are because of the changes they had to make after the 180s... In what way would those 180s have impacted this delay? Why would the switch have changed youtube or facebook being ready for sharing purposes?
So I assume you can only share and view if you're a gold subscriber? Pay to share?
I get the feeling that MS had no plans for such a feature at all until the PS 4 reveal.
I think it's strategic. For those saying its not ready, check out demos of game dvr studio or whatever it's called. It's very polished. Microsoft probably just wants people to try out their OWN service for sharing clips.
Considering Microsoft never even said they would share to youtube before this, I don't get why everyone is making a big fuss out of this besides to jump on the anti Microsoft bandwagon"

Edit: also op, quote them correctly! Albert said "by next year"
The best thing will be "upload to Youtube behind paywall".

1/80.i'd say it's coming no sooner than 180 days later...
They promised something.
They backed off.
Gamers be gamers and MS being MS. You seem like an apologist.

They actually managed to get some TV deals for Japan? Shit, color me impressed x3...despite launching in less countries than originally planned and missing TV features outside US and Japan (lol) at launch.
How does it save you time? It never affected you.Sounds good, I was actually planning on recording my streams and putting them on Youtube so this saves me time.
I find this a little hard to believe. I know XBO had different priorities, but from a gaming POV how could MS not see LPs and game capturing's popularity beforehand and have a feature getting worked on to enable that in their next-gen console? They couldn't of been that blind.

Yes to the other poster, I do believe its strategic and makes sense as they want their own service to catch on.
In other news, Reactionary feature is reactionary.
