We will find out who is playing Ant-Man/Hank Pym in Edgar Wright's forthcoming Marvel movie before the year is out.

Marvel Studios' president of production Kevin Feige explained to IGN, in an extended interview which you can watch at the bottom of the page, that the British director is currently in the Marvel offices every day "tweaking the drafts [of the script] with Joe Cornish... and we're crewing up and prepping. There should be cast announcements, probably before the end of the year."

He also went on to explain that Ant-Man, which is scheduled for a July 2015 release, won't be your regular super hero movie as it will straddle another genre entirely - the heist movie. Watch the full interview for updates on Guardians, Doctor Strange, TV show rumours, and more below.

Kevin Feige has all-but confirmed that a Doctor Strange movie is in active development at Marvel Studios, with the adaptation expected to bring a whole new dimension to the established movie universe.

Following the news that Ant-Man will be a "heist movie", we quizzed Kevin Feige who was in town promoting Thor: The Dark World, about what genre he foresaw a Doctor Strange movie occupying, "I don’t want to say specifically, because that’s a part of our development process as we start to put it together," he told us, "but it’s no secret that the supernatural angle, the angle of alternate and parallel dimensions, we have not done in any of the films, and is not only a big part of the Doctor Strange comics, but also a big part of the Marvel Universe that we haven’t explored yet. So, I love the notion of tapping into all of that through Strange one day."

I got it: Scott Lang, criminal, steals the infamous Ant Man suit (created by Hank Pym) to commit petty crimes. SHIELD finds out and kidnaps him and offers him a choice: Pull off a heist for them, or go to prison for the rest of his life.

Simple enough set up.

Dr.Strange movie needs to introduce Dormammu right from the first film. Don't go the Mordo route (as main villain) and hint at Dormammu only. Just do him, as the main villain, straight up.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Re-committing to the two time period Ant-Man and one part 60's Pym, main part thiefy thief Scott Lang it seems to me.

Lame to write Pym out of the modern day Marvel Universe when there's no licensing reason to do so.

OP forgot to mention the part in the video where IGN ask if they kick themselves for casting Idris Elba in Thor knowing now that he could have played Black Panther instead.

But Ant-Man as a heist movie sounds fun. I love that all these Marvel movies explore different genres instead of all being the same basic type of file with different characters.

I would bet good money that that concept was given the boot a long time ago.

I really, really hope so. Seeing a Pym-less Ultron is going to be disappointing enough without the guy being completely written out of modern day Marvel films due to some quirky gimmick opener.

If it is a "heist" though, everything points to Lang.

I dream of Fox losing Fantastic Four one day, and Marvel being able to present the perfect MU for films sans Spidey and X-Men.

I don't think you can introduce Strange without Mordo. He doesn't have to be the main villain but he plays a role in Strange's beginnings.

I wouldn't be surprised if the character is named Pym, but is a composite of traits of different Ant-Men. Whatever they name him, having Ant-Man be kind of a scumbag would be a fun angle, and differentiate him from the rest of the Avengers.

Even more evidence that this will be a box office bomba.

As someone very sick of superhero movies but pulling for this to be awesome out of faith in Edgar Wright, this gives me hope and hype.
Heist movie with a guy who can shrink? Where do I sign up?

That seems kinda silly. His character from Thor is pretty minor. They could easily cast him in Black Panther as well if they wanted, and I doubt most people would notice.

Antman beat the shit out of his wife. No way do I care about this character no matter how they want to write him.

They carried him being a wifebeater over from The Ultimates-verse too. After Civil War he came back from the Skrull invastion followup plot having been one of the folks taken off planet. He was asked if the wifebeating was him or a skrull and he admitted it was him. So yeah...dude's no hero worth watching in my eyes no matter how they rewrite him. He's just a prop they are getting out of the way in Hollywood to setup Ultron and that is all.

Someone is about to tell you about how that was a miscommunication between the writer and the artist and was never supposed to be the case.

Also it's hilarious that you won't watch a movie with a character because he beat his fictional wife.

Get a load of this casual right here fellas
Oh boohoo I pointed out facts on your heist movie's character origin? He's a comic character they will essentially have to strip down to "he makes ultron, he shrinks, he's smart" in order to use him for Hollywood. Making a whole film for a character I dont think should be popularized is just dumb. He's a prop for Ultron's setup in the second Avengers movie. Folks drawn into the character in the comics after this are being setup to become fans of a character who in canon beats his wife both in main line Marvel and Ultimates.

Thats how I see it. You do this character for a film, you draw people to him in comics, you draw people into someone who is not worth admiring in his comic book iteration.

So despicable characters with flaws and evil sides should never be portrayed or viewed in film. Gotcha.
