Learn something new everyday. I remember talking/discussing this with someone and FLCL was brought up so I guess I just assumed that he directed that. It's also very much his style. Maybe it was just him doing the storyboarding that gives off that impression. Lol scratch that accomplishment off his resume.
Anyway I guess TTGL was more an anomaly than anything else.
Edit:Actually I should have remembered this as I was bitching about Enokido in relation to Captain Earth.
Nah it may be better because the OST is actually good and best mom and Kirara. Gyan is pretty low tier though.
You know better. He's going to make it to the quarter finals or something before the duo have to knock him out.

WTF is this shit! How dare you connect a Zaku to a Gundam! Zaku are for the mooks and throwaway characters excluding specially colored ones.
If you said Zakus are the coolest Mobile Suit in Gundam, I could see where you are coming from but don't call a Zaku a Gundam.

Man getting HD quality from the official channel is so good! Even if it just 720p and on Youtube. Really liking the model system and different variations of Gundams.
More curious about Reiji's world and how Sei fits into it. Not to mention where the hell is Sei's dad.

You're right, it's definitely in Imaishi's style, and it's kind of interesting that FLCL is my favourite show in that style of directing, considering it's what he's known for.

Kill la Kill - Episode 05
That was strong as fuck. Some really great character moments, world building, and great action. Last week was awesome, but this week's entry is probably my favorite thus far in terms of delivering on the crazy premise and expectations of the staff. I also think the action sequences here were leaps and bounds better than the Satsuki vs Ryuko face off back in episode 03 (keep in mind I quite liked that episode). Seeing Ryuko matched up with an opponent who by all means should be weaker was pretty cool.
Also legitimately sweet friendship moments as well.

That's not the impression I've gotten, though perhaps those who dislike it are more vocal. I dislike the film, and in a nutshell it's because it feels like a collection of individual scenes rather than a work which has been constructed as a whole; the pacing is all over the place. I respect Yuasa's sense of experimentation, but when the structure is so loose over such a time frame and the execution so self-indulgent, it's just not enjoyable to watch.

I hope it doesn't go over the top, That's what bugged me about TTGL the most.
Second half will reveal Mako to be the true villain.
Hmmm. Looks kinda mediocre but still, I see fuwafuwa and thats a very good thing usually.

Man, this show is such a rip-off of Kill La Kill, but without all the cool action and fanservice.How many people got aneurysms from that sentence?
Okay for serious, this was a very good first episode. I already like Utena and man is Saionji an asshole. Also some really nice composition here, I love the use of silhouettes and shadows in a lot of the shots, as well as the general surreal atmosphere. I'm not normally a fan of the typical shojo art style, but I don't particularly mind it here, even if the men are a bit silly looking with their colorful flowing hair. I like Utena's design, bright pink hair and all.
Utena really is nothing like Kill La Kill in the slightest. It is an entirely unique entity unto its own. Nothing you have ever seen before or will see again.

I honestly dont either. I really really love that movie. The only thing is maybe the messages were too heavy handed. It was pretty clear what it was trying to say and yet there were times it was literally spelled out for people like they are stupid.
Ryuko fuses with Senketsu to form the ultimate Kamui, and Mako will wear it.
Any of those two would be really stupid.

Finally we get a broader vision into what perils for the outside world surpassing the limits while wearing those clothes creates, perspective outside of Satsuki & Ryūko blind little vengeance business and their skirmishes. First real advertence into acknowledging the "full.life.consequences" of going mindlessly for the kill. Probably a persistent double-edge, to now remember, that makes what is to come even more unexpected. It really expands and builds the interesting setting well out of the closed dynamic we saw on the first three episodes.
And I didn't realise until now the expression of Ryūko's mural at the ED changed on episode 4... a progressive mood degradation, perhaps? Or just a retouch like in the OP?
The Ryūko/Senketsu bond could certainly lead to destruction, a uncontrollable love that could consume it all? Will her other only close bond with Mako be decisive as well on this loss of control? Total fusion? A simile to Yui-sama's EVA? Exactly what experiments Mr. Matoi subjected his own relatives to? Or himself?
Also, the difference between the caring Sanageyama looking after his club captains and Nonon using hers as bait only to extract useful info shows a funny contrast on how more ruthless than the uptight other 'Devas' she is going to be, isn't it? No wonder she has been in Satsuki's side for a longer time.
And I didn't realise until now the expression of Ryūko's mural at the ED changed on episode 4... a progressive mood degradation, perhaps? Or just a retouch like in the OP?

Mika Akitaka must have spent his entire creative spirit on that project. In a way, the Build Fighters ED might even sort of be a homage to (or poking fun at ) Gundam Girls, lol.
It would also make some damned fine yuri subtext.

It's just so fucking- I don't even know where to start. Its stupidity is actively harmful to the fiction and the characters. It's like Adolescence Apocalypse without any of the vision, daring, or understanding of the show it supposedly follows. Bad.
At least the soundtrack was good.
