anybody else thinking of canceling PS4 pre-order after reading the reviews?

Must admit I have my reservations and so many PS3 games to complete and buy like Demon's Souls, Gran Turismo 6, Grand Theft Auto 5, Dark Souls 1 and 2 (next year).

Thinking that a Wii U will suit me better until next summer, but the prospect of powerful new hardware almost has me hooked.

Have a few weeks to make my decision, but am seriously thinking about the games - I don't need a next gen console right now and have plenty to play on the PS3.

Not sure.

definitely, i'll get it in the spring or later. my early purchase was riding on KZ and that just doesn't seem to be enough. I'm also a little concerned about the controller issues.

I'm seriously think to cancel and wait for better games and possible price drop no real must play games not even pretty good games at the moment. Maybe I should get an wii u instead ...

I don't think the will be a pricecut for the Ps4 within the next 2 years. Sony is already cheaper than Microsoft and Nintendo isn't really competition.
The price for the WiiU on the other hand will probably go down further.
The WiiU games I want(MK8, Smash, X and Bayonetta2) are still far away.
Since I'm not a PC gamer its time for me to go next gen on multiplats.

So, no. I don't think about cancelling my Ps4 preorder and ordering a WiiU instead.

I'm pretty upset that I ordered Knack with my B2G1 deal from Amazon. I'm getting the PS4 at launch but I wouldn't argue with anyone that says they're waiting for some games before jumping in.

Why are you letting a bunch of people's opinion rule over your own judgement?

Because his judgement is uninformed? That's why we read reviews from sources that have actually spent time with the system. Otherwise you're just flying blind into the purchase. It's a logical assumption to base your purchasing decision on how others have reviewed it.

Did you really think the launch lineup was gonna be that great? Buying a console at launch is always about potential.
This is bullshit. It's only recently that this has been the case. The NES, SNES, N64, GCN, Xbox, DC and Wii all had fantastic launch titles. In some cases the library of games never lived up to the initial launch offerings (Mario 64 far and away is the best game on the system). So, no, it has not always been about potential. That's just what you'll tell yourself to justify the early purchase.

No!
Several good games out there.
Killzone, Battlefield, Resogun, etc. etc.
btw. I don't buy consoles only for launch games.

PS4: Better hardware, better price, better 1st Party Studios, better Premium Service (PS+) = PS4

Nope. Launch games always have left me wanting - but the new tech and promise of good things to come fuel my inner gamer.

And honestly, after what I have seen from the mainstream press this year - I honestly hold little credence in what they say.

Even if you hate the launch line up you're going to want a PS4 next year so you might as well buy it now. You know the price isn't going to drop for quite awhile.

I already own a Wii U and am keeping my PS4 pre-order. If you do go for the Wii U, its a good time to buy with lots of games coming, and a lot of games that have come out already are pretty cheap now.

You will probably have a lot more to play on a Wii U until more PS4 games come out.

i've cancelled my ps4 order and i'm getting a wii u instead. the poor review scores indicate that sonys first person just cant compete aganst nintendos, and i suspect if drive club was released it would have been a turd ( i imagine it ould have received plenty of 3/10 scores). it doesn't matter if they delayed it, you cant polish a turd.

Pretty funny that two of Sony's vaunted first-party studios get bad reviews, but Flower and Resogun are rolling around in the 8's and 9's.

1. I bought the console for the long term

2. It's launch, it's always mediocre. Remember the 360 - King Kong, Perfect Dark Zero, etc.?

3. Still plenty of good games for a non-PC gamer - Killzone seems fine, Resogun, Warframe, DCU, BF4.

Nope, none of these are really that surprising.

Had little interest in Knack to beginng with and Killzone's scores aren't really that surprising. It has never really had a good single player, but the multiplayer is normally fun. That and the downloadable titles will be enough to hold me over until Infamous.

I wish we could somehow take today's internet back in time to the ps1, 2 and even 3 launch (since forums like this were still not nearly as big) and see the widespread panic to those mediocre launch games.

No one has the ability to think long term anymore.

I did, but back in late September when it was evident that Sony's Nov 15 launch and price were just points to be used in advertising campaigns against the Xbox One, and not based on a stellar library worthy of its price tag. However, I didn't pre-order an Xbox One until the other day when I strolled past a MS store at the mall and saw Forza 5 running. That's when I knew I had made the right decision cancelling my preorder with the PS4. Yeah, the X One is $100 more, but man, Forza.

1. Was I buying the console at launch based on the launch games rather than the new console smell? Nope.
2. Did I expect 10/10 Launch Games? Nope.
3. Do I expect a price drop within a year from now? Nope.

So nope, pre-order remains intact.

Give this woman or man a dollar and the keys to the internet, please!

I am still getting it. All the games with bad reviews I didn't care about anyway. The PS4 OS can only improve from now with updates.

I didn't preorder it, but you guys are dumb if you're canceling your orders because of this. The launch titles obviously appealed to you when you saw them. Give them a shot.

You don't buy a console for its launch games. I don't have one pre ordered but if I did I would probably keep it because games are gonna start coming out pretty soon.

Lol no. KZSF got an average of about an 8 which is a good score to me. Knack unfortunately got panned and I will be dropping that for EU launch :/ Also Resogun is fucking awesome :D

If somebody else's opinion on a game is making somebody re-think the system a few days before it comes out, I would imagine that person wasn't fully invested in it anyway.
I'd rather find out for myself if a game is good or bad, based on how interested I am in the game. Maybe some people are just caught up in the hype, and were expecting 10/10 scores because this system is God's gift to gamers.
