Is this game any good?

I guess what I am asking is what did it get in the only barometer of value that exists (Famitsu)?

Split bump.

Brand seems to be holding up at least on the retail ordering side. Now to see sell-through.

Seems like amazon JP might have sold all of their initial stock since earlier today there was a backorder for about a week. Though now it seems like they got restocked or something as the backorder dates are gone.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
With no new MH on Vita/PSP for 3 years this is probably the biggest IP on the system - Bamco doing the right moves again.

But DBZ IS DBZ after all :p

it is dbz still, but yet they aren't even going to bother with a physical release for the ps3 in NA... so at least to me it's a bit surprising they bothered bringing the vita version out at all especially after they skipped pirate warriors 2 (which also had a full translation to use with it, granted one piece isn't as big as dbz in the west :/)

Pirate Warriors 2 ended up being in the top 10 PSN downloads for its release month here in the US (it's something). I guess the Toomami broadcasting is making a big difference. Maybe Pirate Warriors 3 will see a physical release here in America. Or maybe a Vita release :O

That's correct. The Vita version is DD-only in North America, where as it'll be available in Europe, and Japan at retail. The PS3, and 360 SKUs will be at retail worldwide.

Part of me expects Scamco to pull a SEGA and announce the Vita version of PW2 soon.

Im not sure about the 360 version, but according to psn stores
While the game will see a retail release in Europe, and Asia it will be a PSN-exclusive in North America. Additionally, the North American Vita version will only include English voice acting due to size constraints. There are currently no plans to add the Japanese dialog as downloadable content. Pricing details weren’t shared.

we can hope for a vita release perhaps, but there is very little chance of a physical release as long as they don't dub it (weird sony of america rules not allowing subbed only releases unless you get an exception from what I have read around the net)

It's decently likely that pirate warriors 3 would be a ps4 release though, so the vita should at least have remote play for that.

ah perhaps i misread the psnstores story then, i'm just so used to getting screwed over by namco when it comes to physical releases for anime games that I assume the worst lol.

Zulux, I wrote that article. Sorry for the confusion but the entire post was directed towards the Vita version, which is why I made no mention of the PS3/360 releases. I'll go change that.

Namco's expectation seems super low given that the first shipment is 500k and this is the sort of a game that you can expect at least some legs out of.

I wonder, how much of sellthrough can we expect ? Something between 50-80% ?
That would put the FW around ~300-350k (slightly better than GE1 and GE:B)

Has any Vita game showed any sort of legs so far ?
If we look at the two closest competitors in the same category here's what we've got

Soul Sacrifice : 105k (FW) - ~220k (LTD)
Toukiden : 127k PSV 70k PSP (FW) - 223k PSV - 157k PSP (LTD)

The ratio here is around ~50% FW.
Sure God Eater is "bigger", but not that much.

Danganropa was the only one who showed positive growth, if that is how we define legs.

I am really curious about SS and the double pack. I remember it doing 20k in the first week and it may have gone to sell 10-15k more overall going by the single SKU. That would put SS at around 230-235 SKUs sold and around 240-260 games sold which is fairly close to the biggest seller on Vita in Japan.

?
Legs are when a game keep selling a significant amount of copies after its release, that's all.

Danganronpa probably won't have legs (it's already out of the chart this week).

Not that much? Didn't the first game sell 3x Soul Sacrifice? This is one of the biggest games of the year. It might even get close to a million ltd(vita+psp)

God Eater's sales were around 600-650k, when all is said and done Soul Sacrifice should be around 250k and Toukiden 450k with the latest two having the same kind of ratio FW/LTD.
God Eater opened at 276k and Burst 267k, GE2 shipment is 500k across both SKU

Even in a best case scenario 1M copies seems out of reach for the game so far.

The latest shipped+digital numbers from Tecmo Koei put Toukiden PSV+PSP at 470k. So I dare say it's proven itself to have solid legs.

People are expecting 300k increase for this game from the last? Based on what? This shipment should be gone by the end of the holidays though.

Initial shipment is close to GE1 ltd. GE1 ended up selling 2x it's first week. It's a highly anticipated sequel so I don't get the SS and Toukiden comparison.

Well digital sales are kinda a wild card (we don't know how much and when those digital sales happened) so I was assuming we were talking about physical sales only.

I guess it will be 90/10 split where Vita sales are around 450-500k and PSP 50-100k. Most interesting though is hardware sales
