Why in the world are you guys ordering so many Ones if they're not selling through?

Replenishment, display stock, etc. Trust me. They will stop ordering when sales slow down. New hot items like PS4, XBOX, IPHONES, etc are hard to judge demand when they first release. These companies replenishment software will adjust and order just enough to keep a few on the shelves from week to week.

May be a big chain like gamestop places orders much in advance?

And also this. Most orders take about a week or two to get from manufacturer to distribution centers, to the stores. If stock of XB1's are too high in the stores, then the company will cut back their next order. They may also possibly even out their stock by doing store-to-store transfers.

In Serbia and Hungary... PS4 sells out immediately [even with the higher price in Serbia, around ~470€ for basic console] with preorder list going out to late january-february.

Xbone is not launched here yet. Importers have priced it around 540-580€, and interest is very low.

When did PS4 launch in Serbia? Thought it was scheduled for 2014. May be the higher price is due to imports?

Well, gaming retail stores have managed to get a lot of consoles few days after EU launch, but official PS4 launch will arrive in late January/early February. Only then they will be able to provide consoles for vast majority of preorders. We expect pricing to remain the same. In Croatia which even has official Sony presence there, PS4 costs ~440€.

Smaller importers have off course brought consoles from Hungary and other nearby countries (mostly Italy). I have managed to get PS4 from HU for 500€ [largest bundle, KZ+gamepad+eye].

Microsoft in january:'' Xbone sell-troughs to stores larger than PS4 in december''!

Honeslty going off of these little anecdotes, xboxone seems a lot like wiiu, only more popular but the same early adoptor craziness: wiiu saw some nice numbers at launch day, but in the end, 350 just wasnt worth it for most people (altough I still bought one). And thus, sales plummeted afterwards. Im not stating this as fact, but I do think xbox finds itself in a similar situation: outside of the early adapters, 500 just isnt worth it for most people and, as a result, stores find themselves with too high of a stock of unsold xboxones.

Whereas I feel sony did it right, with the hype to create an attractive package along with the right price, and so the wave of early adoptors is just way bigger, AND the amount of people think the PS4 is worth it for 400 is just way larger and are continuing to seek out a PS4 even after the early adoptors/initial shipment. So in conclusion, PS4 is just continually sold out at stores.

I was at Walmart in Leland, NC on Sunday. They still had one PS4 and two or three XBOs. Sold out of Wii Us. They've had stock of all three every time I've checked except this last time.

when I lived in Honolulu a couple of years ago there used to be a Sony repair center on Mapunapuna, right next to the Coca-Cola Bottling Co.

It's been there as long as I can remember and afaik it is still there. Never would have thought you could buy consoles there, though.

Same here in Slovenia, only that small retailers (they are buying consoles in Italy, Austria is sold out due to insane amount of preorders until end of January) are upping the price in 500 € range for stand alone console. I say fck them, I will rather wait another month. Still have 100 € in coupons for our largest retailer, so I will get PS4 for 299 € :p

And I think that we will never have official Xbone launch or sales here. Mueller and small retailers have it on stock. But it is worthless, no official support, nothing. Well, everybody that I know had X360 for arrr arrr stuff...

I think Xbox could be fully in stock everywhere by new years.

I actually saw a PS4 in the case at my Target last night. At 6:30p on Christmas Eve? That was shocking.

First PS4 I'd ever seen in the wild to boot!

I cant be like wii u when it obliterated it in launch sales. And theres a healthy supply of games being released to keep that momentum going. Just like november these anecdotes dont mean anything apart from letting oeople kniw theres stock available. Youd never have thought xbox one would be a mere 150k behind ps4 in november reading peoples anecdotes here.

I think the point was the demand curve may be a similar shape; strong initial demand from The Faithful, followed by indifference from the general public.

You could see evidence of such a curve in the wake of E3. Hyrb announced Amazon sold through "more than half" of their initial stock in six hours, but it took a month to sell the remaining half. Compare to the PS4, where the entire stock sold out in less than a day, and demand has remained just as strong. Meanwhile XBones are literally piling up at retailers in the days leading up to Christmas.

Working at target yesterday (madness even after the credit card fiasco) I saw a single xbox one in the console case, which was getting taken out and bought by some dudebro-lookig person as I walked by. I have yet to see any PS4s in the cases.

His shirt wasn't pink, but he was wearing the baseball cap and had the stupid chinese tattoos on his arms.

I was with it until the "even gayer" reference, which is pretty repugnant. Pretty good otherwise.

Let's retire this thread after today. If someone wants to start a post-Christmas retail stock check thread feel free. The run up to Christmas feels like a good point to break for a post-Christmas thread, lest this turn into megathread.

Not sure if this is new, but if anyone is still looking for a PS4 looks like Best Buy has some online. It's letting me add to the cart, and not saying it's not in stock.

In stock right now. If this is thread worthy, I'll let someone else go for it- leaving for family Xmas.

Merry Xmas GAF.

ADOPTERS.
ADOPTERS.

Sorry but too many people make that mistake. Think of adoption like when you go adopt a baby.

The entire dudebro stereotype is dumb to begin with.

Oh you enjoy sports? Haha stupid dudebro.

Oh you have friends over to play an FPS or casual game? Have fun fratboy!

What does a dudebro look like?

It is obvious when you see it.

I went out black Friday for fun with my kids, I saw two dudebros.

1. TrU Buying XB1 games. Young dad, fat young wife in tow. Must have menial job based on vernacular and dress.

2. GS. Sideways hat, fancy sneakers, baggy clothes and white, yelling to his friend that he scored a XB1 on Craig's list for $575 (LOL). This is the poster child of COD playing douche bag, dudebro to the core.

Brazil has a lot of PS4 available for sale.

A least on the gray market, theres a lot indeed.

Funny enough the gray market (ebay type auction sites, non-official stores, and, street vendors) are cheaper than the official 4,000 BRL sony asks.

Right now you can snatch a PS4 in brazil from 2,200 to 2,500 on the gray market, thats roughly 897 USD... not that bad considering the official price tag lol

Btw, i know a LOT of brazilians who just bought their ps4 directly from amazon.com

Seriously?

Someone needs to update the Dudebro picture with something less homophobic.

I'd argue against that. Shows exactly what the mindset is from those who created the image.

Close minded, bigoted morons. The types of people who are considerably worse than those they feel the need to make fun of and/or insult...

How is his polo 2x too small? Guy is just swole. More muscle shaming.

I've always hates the term "dudebro" anyway. I've been accused of it a couple times by awkward people and then they got all quiet when they realized what I was talking about.

It's especially jarring considering needlessly inflammatory homophobic language is one of the things people generally characterize as a "dudebro" trait.

What are the chances the wii u beats out xb1 for December?

Minimal. Due to how slow the Wii-U has been selling, most retailers will be equally slow to up their stock allocations. They're not going to sell out the few units they have on shelves and say, "Man, Wii-U is selling like hotcakes! We'd better order ten times as many for the next shipment!" They're more likely to say, "Wii-U is actually selling now, we'd better up the order back up to normal numbers for replenishment."

And that's just in the US, where it's actually stayed on shelves. Internationally, it's been booted from a lot of retailers and most likely will never come back, further limiting the ability to move a lot of units quickly even when it is selling. (And didn't they have some kind of largely-undefined issue with Amazon, as well?)

The Wii-U would have to push 400,000+ units monthly for several months in a row to convince retailers to take 1,000,000+ stock of them in a month.

So my Tesco's stock of Xbox Ones are still sitting there as they were on Christmas Eve with no interest at all. It's not looking good for the demand in the new year as we get past the main selling season.

At a Target in MD. Out on shelves:

10 Xbones
0 PS4s
O PS3s
4 Xbox 360s
0 Wii Us
0 Vita's
0 3DSs
17 2Ds
3 Ouyas (when did that start happening?)

I confirmed they've been sold out on PS4s for days. He wasn't sure exactly how long and looked at me strange for asking. Didn't ask him about anything else after that.

From reading this thread, it almost seems like the Xbox 1 didn't sell close to a million units in November. People predicting (just hopeless wishing really) that the WiiU would outsell the Xbox? Hilarious. Also, the dudebro shaming is embarrassing and really neurotic- I probably fit the demographic because I wear AE shirts, go to the gym regularly, and really enjoy FPS's.

My worthless anecdote- at my Walmart in NY => far bigger retail space dedicated to the XB1 relative to PS4. The Xbox section was bare- accessories, consoles completely wiped out. I saw a woman grab the last controller while I was there.

No respectable dudebro is a Blue Jays fan. Don't worry.
