Game Informer: Evolve (TurtleRock(L4D)/2K, PC/PS4/XB1, CryEn, 4v1 PvP) [Screenshot]

This doesn't really sound like L4D at all. Left 4 Dead is based around the generated zombie hordes and special infected trying to work together to pin down a team. This doesn't sound like it has normal enemies, just the giant player controlled monster.

Goddamit, I really hate this trend. Not everybody wants to play multiplayer I want singleplayer.

You do realize that there's still far more single player only games than online games? It's crazy how people react to this. There's a lot of people who want games built for online and have a ton of content for it, so why can't games like that exist? Alien: Isolation is single player only and I don't see people freaking out.

Let's speculate the abilities the alien will receive
We know of flame breath from op, I bet there will be invisibility
Some kind of lunge attack ala l4d hunter
Some brute muscle type power, either l4d tank or l4d charger

Asymmetric Left 4 Dead with Dinosaurs after seeing the description.

Excellent description.

So you can customize both the monster and the hunters? As in you build your monster over time, as you do your hunter? I also really hope for large monsters to really give it the feeling of heft/danger/power.

Game looks like it can be fun. Just wish they stuck with the more realistic character designs from L4D. I hope it has a compelling scenario like the L4D games.

Left V dead?

Exactly my thoughts. I was expecting different Alien types similar to the Boomer, Smoker etc.

Titanfall is another title that fails to impress me enough to even begin to care about. It looks tremendously underwhelming and the online multi-player-only focus completely turns me off.

What is so wrong with Single-player these days? Why limit the design document to multiplayer only and in doing so - limit the scope and potential feature set of the game?!?

Mp only is massivly hype deflating, sorry

Shootbang gonna shootbang. How exciting. Truly, bricks are being shat as I type these sentences. The world of video games will never be the same.

Seriously, I really hope this isn't a full price game. It would be like paying $60 for Call of Duty Search & Destroy mode, or $60 for Splinter Cell: Blacklists Spies v Mercs mode.

If it's $15 or something, I could see myself getting it because the concept is cool, but it's also such a small-scale concept that I fail to see substantial value in it.

I've spent about 1000 hours playing the L4D series in Versus mode.

By comparison, I invest maybe 10-20 hours per single player game, should I buy at full price.

The value is there if this is anything like L4D.

Why does everything have to be single-player? There are plenty of single-player games out there.

Sounds like this should be a downloadable game, maybe like a $20 title? I cant see why this would cost more then that if its an online only multiplayer shooter with one gametype.

i need to start going into japanese game announcement threads and complaining about the single-player RPGs

the insane hate that shooters get on this board is really weird to me, considering how crazy popular they are and especially since this one is from the studio that made one of the least conventional and most fun mutiplayer games of the last 10 years

That nobody played and was one of the best mods ever? Yeah. Like that one. Just with a monster instead of some invisible guy. And some generic sci fi marines instead of normal marines. And a jungle instead of some factorys.

Hopefully they'll do a proper release of the old Specialist mod, the other best mod ever.

Man, Single Player games will be really scarce outside of RPGs in 2015-16.

lol what is this

off the top of my head... infamous? theif? watch dogs? the order? Halo 4? sunset overdrive? devil's third? And im not even listing the mega list of RPGs since you want to write them off so quickly.

The sky isn't falling simply because there are some games attempting something else besides cinematic solitary gameplay experiences.

You have both. Go play single player games if the multiplayer ones don't interest you.

Seriously. It's becoming unbearable. People have no trust in new IPs or creativity anymore.

A multiplayer only shooter needs to earn my trust. There's nothing wrong with being skeptical about what looks to be another generic bullrush title. And with no campaign or single player to fall back on, you can't even resort to "Well, maybe the story will be cool", because there is none. A great deal of us would at least like the option to play the game by ourselves. This isn't an MMORPG, there's no real reason why this couldn't support some sort of single player campaign.

One more example that generic no longer has any real meaning when it comes to gaming. What exactly is generic about this?

well:

MP centric
"hunted" aspect(Xv1)
basically AvP/NS with some tweaks

*shrug* looks pretty generic to me

I first thought it was going to be 4v4, with 4 players controlling various aspects of the monster, but it's just a standard Xv1 game.

I honestly cannot remember the last time a played a FPS for the single player. I love that they are starting to remove it in favor of MP only. On the other hand, MP on games like tomb raider or AC makes no sense to me. This game looks like the perfect online-only game.
