The journalist rage was a bit bizarre, to be fair. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that game journos wanted an excuse to take to their high horses, but I got the distinct impression they were more concerned with directing the rage than with getting the facts. Hell, look at Schrier's "awful exchange" tweet to the person who posted the original image. Bias out the ass. That's how bloggers and opinion writers roll, not so-called journalists.
If I were more concerned with directing rage than with getting the facts, I wouldn't have gotten the facts.

I don't think there is a good way to apologize for such behavior, but he did it... Everyone makes mistakes. He pretty much killed any kind of career in the gaming industry anyway.

He should have never mentioned his brother or the alcohol, or anything. Even if he isn't, mentioning that stuff makes it look likes he's trying to formulate some excuse to deflect some of the heat away from him.

Your brother's suicide made you tell a chick you wanted to kiss her vagina? lol ok

See, I read the entire first post when the thread went up and every ounce of it made me think that the apology was this weird hodgepodge of things and "circumstances" with no real apology in there and I didn't give it a second thought.

Then I see this post and it pretty much helped me reach the funny part I missed faster. Well played. :lol

That girl deserves a medal for keeping her cool.

I agree.

"I don't know the title of the game."

"I'll still kiss your vagina."

"Sorry I didn't have more info."

"Let me know if you need a penis for anything in the near future."

What the FUCK. I would have been seriously creeped out.

One of the Twitter responses basically conveyed that the female dev in question only did so because she didn't want bad coverage from Josh about the game she was involved in.

Pretty disgusting situation and speaks to yet another problem in the game journo/dev/publisher triangle, as well as the usual immaturity with regards to gender/women in video game culture.

The first or second "I'll kiss your vagina" statement seemed like a joke. And the lady seemed to have taken it as a joke... and then it got creepy.

Sorry dude, but it's gonna take a HELL of a lot of effort to come back from that. Your apology is barely a start.

Lol at that Navarro quote, brrrrriiilliiant!

My opinion on this is that its none of our business. She should have told him to stfu and inform his boss or other people from that website.

If all it took to lessen the blowback of a bad mistake was blaming it on booze and a sob story that nobody would investigate or follow up on (it's bad taste) then it would happen a lot more.

Before you give this guy any sympathy remember he's only came forward with this apology AFTER word started getting around thanks to the tweet from Laralyn McWilliams.

I'm finding the responses to his response way more pathetic than his response. The dude is messed up and he admits it. His reasons for being messed up are valid (lost brother, his own alcoholism, his current mental health state). He say's those reasons don't excuse his behavior and he doesn't intend for them to. I have no reason to think he is lying. He apologized to the person and I doubt the other person will turn it down. All these other people and groups jumping on the story is pretty sad. How much worse shit do you people hear on a daily basis without even thinking twice?

The victim of the harassment likely felt ashamed, debased and trapped. A public shaming for Josh is the least she could give back.

I'm not sure that saying "My shit is fucked up, I'm a fuckup, I need to get my shit together, I'm sorry" is trying to justify sexual harassment. I mean, if you think the apology is insincere or whatever, then by all means fire with both barrels, but it seems to me that if you take him at his word in the text, he's not justifying sexual harassment, he's apologizing for it by means of pointing out that he's pretty seriously messed up.

Thank you.
I'm actually a fan of the dudes channel, piss poor behavior from him though, he's pretty much damaged his name, hopefully he can bounce back after paying some dues.. AFTER he seeks help for his issues, cause dudes got issues.

Holy shit at the blurred out message at the end. That is not sexting, that is full blowned auto-entroica 50 Shades of Grey bullshit.

So, are you saying he's a very capable writer when drunk or 50 Shades of Grey sounds like a drunken sext?

And after all this time, she still misses the point.

At least me finding her incredibly annoying on the bombcast had nothing whatsoever to do with her being female. I guess that's the 'bro' cast she's refering to, right?

Also, what 'intense consequences" is she talking about?

Its actually 4x more, if you are gonna be an harassing piece of dogshit at the very least respect the science.

He called the guy and everything, I have criticized Jason in the past for rushing to get a headline ready but I see nothing wrong with the article or trying to show some empathy towards one of the people involved.

Is she referring to the first or second time everyone hated on her?

Kinda shitty that she tried to turn this about her, tho. I wouldn't have expect a female writer supposedly concerned about the role on women in the industry to turn this horrible episode into an opportunity to get on that spotlight.

Different people cope with grief differently.

Well good thing he kept it at just sexual harassment, then? Take that mentally unstable dude to the doc and have him examined before he does something worse to cope with his grief. He just kept on with the sexual bullshit even when she was ignoring it.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
It's true. She was treated like shit way out of proportion to what she did.
What did she do?

It might sound shady and it might be also the true... Who knows? But he did apologize, which is a first step

You know, it's like he watched a James Bond movie where Bond seduces a villain and gets the super secret plans and said to himself, "Hey, I can do that!".
