The Witcher: Enhanced Edition for preorder on Impulse and Steam

friday, i think you've gotta register your key with them to download it, i may be wrong though

I hope you are, my game came with no CDKey and emails to Atari have gone unanswered.

You didn't need to register your key to download any of the other updates, so I don't see why they would start with this one.

Eh, because if we didn't there's no way any store would carry it :)

As for the issue above... I'll see what I can find out. I know there was supposed to be a process for copies that shipped without a key, but alas... uhh... I don't know it.

Check the witcher forums they have a link for you to atari where you need to send a mail. I had a response in 24 hours requesting a cd key cause I got an OEM version with my 8800gt.

To get a registration key for your OEM version of the witcher contact Atari using the folowing form:
http://www.atari.com/us/support/supportemail/supportemail_form.php?productName=The+Witcher

Just tell them you have a OEM version of the game

Has anyone found the boxed version in any stores yet? Man, that is one badass package...
according to Witcher Community Assistant "...they HAVE been shipped 16th but itÂ’s the problem of the retailers now to start selling game as quick as possible "

i'm tempted now to buy it from steam

It doesnt explain why you would need a registration key to download the updates though.

Surely if the game has been activated legally, the key is stored? I cant remember the process, but I know my Canadian Key didn't work properly...

Shit, I saw this thread the other day, but I didn't read carefully at all. Even though I won't have time to get into this game for another two months, I impulse-bought it on Steam. I couldn't help myself. I didn't realize that package was the regular retail edition. And I didn't see that deal on Impulse. Oh well, I hope I like this game. It'll the first serious RPG I ever play.

If I buy this from steam or Impulse will it detect my region and then give me the PAL version or US?

Maybe I'll just buy retail

95% positive it gives you the European version. I saw someone on the Steam forums saying the game said The Witcher: Enhanced Edition (eea or something like that).

Oh hay, this is out on Steam now. Seems to include all of the bonus material too (aside from the short story, which is missing).

Hmm, I don't think my free copy which came with my videocard will qualify for free enhanced edition upgrade.

The game asks for a serial number to input to register the game, and since its a freebie there isn't one. :x

I've already downloaded the unofficial patch but here is what Stardock (Impulse) said about bring the US version into the world of grown-ups:

The ESRB is currently in the process of rating the uncensored version of the game. Once this is complete, assuming CD Projekt makes it available, we will add that to Impulse as an optional update for all those who bought the Enhanced Edition from us.

I've used Impulse before, but this is the first time I've watched how they handle a new game from pre-launch. They are handling themselves very well, especially in terms of communicating with their costumers.

My goddamn fucking computer crashes the day Witcher EE and Peggle Nights release. PEEERRRRFECT. Couldn't you take my WiiPS360 instead!? Aaagh. Reinstalling Windows right now. :/

Wow...I didn't know The Witcher was censored so badly. There's no blood, whatsoever. Ugh.

edit: apparently the blood isn't supposed to be censored....Steam glitch? :(

Yeah, it seems to be a bug with the digital distribution version :(. Team's working on it.

I got the enhanced edition box today.

It's packed full of stuff... making of DVD, OST, songs "inspired" by the witcher, a novella, a strategy guide, a large fold-out map.

But I noticed something missing. There's no actual game manual!

What the hell!

same here only the installation guide :lol

For the US version -- to make sure that retailers would actually carry it -- we had to do something to shrink the box (the Euro version is about twice as thick)... and the printed manual was sacrificed. Everything else is there, though.

And couldn't you guys have at least mentioned that before release? The description of the Enhanced Edition states it comes with a manual, and nothing says that the physical contents differ by region.

The only vague hint was, "Product may not be exactly as pictured in your region." That could just have meant the packaging or art differed a bit, not that the contents would be different.

It shouldn't have been listed so prominently as something included in the box if it wasn't going to be.

I agree completely. I would have gotten the import version from GoGamer if you guys actually told us that the NA SKU was getting a gutted version.

Everything I read as well stated the game came with a manual. I mean of all the things to leave out of the box? It's the fucking MANUAL.

The game is still friggin' awesome!

wait, which version is censored? i want to get the steam version in north america.

The lack of blood and gore in the Steam version is an error that will be fixed. All North American versions have censored the nudity present in the European version, as far as I am aware.

One of the forum mods on Impulse claims that there's an uncensored version currently going through ESRB, and their hopes to offer an optional patch. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not.

Picked mine up today here in NY. Very bummed about the lack of a manual. And that it wasn't mentioned before release.
