Can't watch ATM.
980 pro ext SSD loads games 2 to 3 seconds faster
damn external is faster
I'm not surprised, I feel like the entire time they knew this proprietary SSD would be surpassed by commercial OTS drives making it cheaper in the long run.980 pro ext SSD loads games 2 to 3 seconds faster
They used a 980Pro that is indeed way faster than Internal in raw speeds but the results shows they basically tied.damn external is faster
Not true.980 pro ext SSD loads games 2 to 3 seconds faster
except for battlefield 5 , every game they tested has at least 2 seconds loading advantage in favour of the samsung SSDThey used a 980Pro that is indeed way faster than Internal in raw speeds but the results shows they basically tied.
apparently its bricking 90 percent of PS5sAny summary ? Can't watch ATM.
FFS this is useless. I wanted to see someone test if it can use 3.0 SSDs or slower & cheaper ones. No shit a top 5 PC ssd runs over this shit, DUH!

The one rated at 6.5GB/s.
Men that write speed is dog shit
External do you mean the M.2 expansion? Yes.Can you install PS5 games to that external?
You can't use PCI-E 3.0 SSDs.FFS this is useless. I wanted to see someone test if it can use 3.0 SSDs or slower & cheaper ones. No shit a top 5 PC ssd runs over this shit, DUH!

Can you install PS5 games to that external?
External do you mean the M.2 expansion? Yes.
To the NVME and play games off it?
Yes you can.
The other external drives (connected via USB) can only have PS4 games run off them.
seems like Series internal write speeds are much faster than ps5!
Just 2 out of 10 game tests showed 980Pro with at least 2 seconds advantage.except for battlefield 5 , every game they tested has at least 2 seconds loading advantage in favour of the samsung SSD
Well, obviously the internal SSD is going to be surpassed. Who would think otherwise?I'm not surprised, I feel like the entire time they knew this proprietary SSD would be surpassed by commercial OTS drivers making it cheaper in the long run.
He was saying external like it was a USB drive. The M.2 expansion isn't really "external" since you install it in the system.
Thats what I was hoping for too. I want to see how Ratchet and Clank's portals act with a below spec driveToo bad they didn't test slower drives, that was what I hoped for. These results are not surprising at all.
They hint at it being artificially limited due to the fact that write speed isn't a factor during gameplay... I wonder if they're trying to increase the longevity of the hardware?Men that write speed is dog shit

They test Ratchet & Clank in the first few minutes, did you even watch the video? No comparison of loading into a proper PS5 game

Rich said the speed vary even when you turn ON/OFF the internet.

Probably not a priority. Cheap SSD's always had this, high read performance, shit write performance. The reason for this is, u read more out then u write towards it.
Not much of a issue tho, read is what matters the most.

No he wrote this, "However, in copying the data back to the internal SSD, Xbox Series X was always significantly faster."
They test Ratchet & Clank in the first few minutes, did you even watch the video?
Not just that… they tested only loading times.Too bad they didn't test slower drives, that was what I hoped for. These results are not surprising at all.
They mentioned it's roughly the same, did you really need to be shown them loading a game when the portal shift sequence stresses the game more?Do you understand what "loading into" means? Going through a portal is not the same thing as loading a save from the main menu.
This.Very uninformative video. No comparison of loading into a proper PS5 game (Plague Tale is a patched PS4 game), and no test of how under-speced drives perform (of course a 7GB/s drive is gonna fare well).
All the PS4 games loading a little faster with the Samsung drive is not surprising at all, since those games will not be using the new storage APIs and will therefore simply be helped by higher raw throughput.
