It's not like he went and got the guy fired, it just happened. I don't think there's anything wrong with feeling a bit happy when someone who's being kind of a dick gets fired. Work is already stressful enough, no one needs that kind of shit.

Why are so many of you piling on OP?

Real life isn't a Hallmark movie, sometimes the office jerk leaving makes your day better and admitting it doesn't make you a bad person

I don't think i've had a falling out situation like this (except for girls), but i've definitely had bad vibes with a few people at work over the years and it does get exhausting.

I've also been in awkward situations where i'm pretty sure both me and the other person thinks the other doesn't like them, but we just never really broke the ice for whatever reason.

By your own admission you weren't close and never hung out after work yet you've been holding onto a grudge for YEARS because the guy decided to cut you loose. And now you celebrate him losing his job and admit his ghosting you has "hung around my neck like a fucking albatross"

He's not the problem, man. You're fragile, clingy and annoying. I only pray he doesn't have a pet rabbit because we've all seen this movie.

Something could of happened in his personal life and made him shut down. Dude could be dealing with some rough things. A lot of people start shutting down socially if someone happen in their life.
