What's the bet for the conversion rate from the f2p period?
I'm thinking 15% as a ceiling, but realistically sub 10% will stick around by Jun 18th about a week after the f2p period.
Even if they bought it at a discount, I don't think they'll stick around for long.
Game lost half the players in one week. Next week will obviously show that S2 did nothing. The whole thing is a farce. Sony is selling a game they know will be dead in 2 months.
It was definitely more dumbass PR to announce destiny is done before marathon had a chance in S2. Like up and down the chain from Bungie to Sony are a bunch or worthless execs who need culled.
I don't think the free week attracted many new players at all, I've a feeling the only ones playing Marathon right now are mostly the people who were still playing by the end of S1, people who already own the game and like it. I think it needs drastically new content to pull in new players, not sweaty PvP content but something entirely different, like some form of a PvE mode or campaign or something. Which, probably isn't likely anytime soon, not any meaningful content at least.
Hey, they got deeper pockets for marathon than we might all think. Weeks ago, they were promoting their roadmap to Season 5 which is supposed to "bring it all together". At 3 months per season that bring Marathon support till spring 2027!

Falling below 20k peak during the free period is pretty sad.
However, I think the drop once the free period ends won't be very dramatic at least. It's likely just the hardcore season 1 players mainly atm. The 50% drop in the last week was new players giving it a chance and leaving.

Agreed, it didn't even double S1s worst day today. The server slam dropped to around launch CCU by the end of day 3, I think probably less than 10% of the current CCU are free players.
