I hope they got him on a hamster wheel 24/7, last I saw him he'll have major trouble playing Austin unless he gets whipped into shape

He's still good as Dr Evil

Dr. Evil GM SuperBowl commercial - 2022:

Yeah, I think Mike Myers has been doing these ads to show that he could still do something Austin Powers related. There were talks of Myers doing a Dr. Evil movie with Netflix a few years ago, not long after the GM superbowl commercial. Now with Shrek 4 complete, maybe Myers he is trying again? But this time Austin Powers 4 ? That's my guess.

get the entire writing and directing team behind the recent Naked Gun on it... hell, get Liam Nesson as one of the new bad guys in there while we're at it.

Fat Bastard could be back as a good guy now after he lost weight in the third movie.

Dr. Evil would also need to be on Austin's side this time tho, since he switched sides and they set up Scott as the new bad guy at the end.

Hoping this is decent. I loved the first one and the sequels got worse with each one. So many great memes though. I hope they are not trying to not offend anybody. Not much room for jokes then.

I watched 1 again the other day and it still holds up but it was written in a very different time. It would never get made now days. I guess we will see.

I think all three of the Austin Powers movies hold up, with the first one really being the best one. Goldmember being the weakest entry that sill has a lot of laughs and funny characters. But even the wort Austin Powers movie is still great. All three of them are loaded with great moments and a lot of hilarious side characters and gags that still work.

The Spy Who Shagged me has some of my favorite gags in the series. Dr. Evil with Mojo, Fat Bastard, the time travel stuff, Mini Me, young No. 2. Part two is loaded with funny moments, but I think the first one is consistently funnier. Spy Who Shagged Me has some of the best extended gags in the series. Part 3 has a lot of hilarious moments too like Michael Cane as Nigel Powers. Though some of the conclusion scenes are weird.

Crazy to think that Austin Powers the character was frozen in 1967, wakes up 30 years later in 1997. Now in 2027 it will be 30 years since 1997... isn't that insane?

I guess Myers got sidetracked by Shrek, and dropped out of doing more Austin Powers movies after Goldmember. But also the series was running a bit out of steam by the third film. I can't complain as far as diminishing returns on comedy movies go.

I think that I would have preferred the first as a one off. The rest have a really absurdist vibe instead of being parodies.

That is hard to debate. because the original is the best one. But I think back and Spy Who Shagged Me had some of the best follow up comedy to the first one. I feel like a lot of part two was thought up when part one was being made. Part three is where it feels the idea was running on empty.

In a way the sequels borrow a back to the Future movie layout quality to them. First one is oddly more grounded, with Austin having to learn what he missed between 1960's and 1990's. But it was still a wacky comedy with a good premise. 1960's man in the 1990's. But Austin adapts well. The second one is more like... a straight Austin Powers movie. Dr. Evil revenge plot, time travel back to the 60's. The third one was a parody of the 1970's action-ploitation films. The third film messes with the audience heads during the end. But they are mostly a parody of 1960's spy shows.

After that pentaverate or whatever its called id say im good.

Hes also too old now and weve got enough "famous thing but theyre old now hur hur" shows and movies.

The only way this would work is with a reboot but theres no comedic talent that can recreate the originals humor.

And modern comedy would just be dog shite...

Like maybe if you get the fackham hall writers you could maybe get something but even that wasnt hysterical, it was just kind of funny.

For real? I don't think they can do justice anymore for the series

I mean, I watched past year the first two and I still loves it. With that said, I watched the new Scary Movie and feels off, while the first two still are awesome. Maybe it's the age thing, looking at those guys that are 50 doing those things...

It'll be garbage, Mike Myers hasn't been funny in decades, go watch The Guru and tell me this will be good.

it's not about him being funny, it's about the script being funny.

they should get together a dreamteam of comedy movie writers and avoid doing too much fanservice, and just make a new movie as if the long pause in-between never happened.

You can't really deny the OG films some sort of iconic status considering you still to this day hear people referencing them but I tried watching the 1st a while back and didn't even giggle. Jokes just beaten into the ground kind of thing.

I find comedy sequels in general kind of bad and the least necessary of all genre sequels.

AP was funny because it was irreverent. The writing can not be compliant to modern -isms …is that even allowed in Hollywood now?
Irreverent comedy is still allowed, have you seen the new Naked Gun? Parody and satire have always been able to push boundaries, that hasn't changed. Some people will complain, but that's also not a new thing.

He was the lead writer for the Austin Powers movies.

My issue is they're so full of pop-culture references that they're kind of irrelevant today. Britney Spears will come out, and people will go, "Who's that?"

I know he's woke but this man was a part of my life for a long time.

I can't bring myself to hate him even if he hates me, lol.

I'm in for Austin Powers 4. In his prime this guy was hilarious. Wayne's World, Shrek, and fucking Austin Powers. Is he the most successful SNL alum? I'm sure Sandler is ahead but he may be 2nd place.
