The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales |OT| West Philabieldia, born and raised. Talking to fairies is how I spend most of my days.

So they go with a bunch of non-union voice actors that either suck, have no experience, or both.

Got all my chores done for the day. Replaced a light fixture in my office (new LED, looks great considering the old thing I took out was a monstrosity from the 90s that came with the house). Yard work done. Floors mopped.

Fedex needs to hurry their asses up so I can get to adventurin'

lol, I'm working my ass off to get my work done, too!

I really wanna take tomorrow off through the weekend. Just a few more hours left if I really focus 👀

Very Hard seem to be the right difficulty to play at if you are just a bit familiar with these kind of games. At least getting hit has some consequences, a couple of hits and it's over. That way you have to pay attention to stuff instead of face tanking everything.

Yeah, just shift all the difficulty names down a level to get what they actually are.

My delivery originally was scheduled for yesterday. Then this morning it said it would arrive by 10am. Then it said 10am-2pm. Now it says 5pm-9pm. Guess that's what I get for living in the middle of nowhere.

I guess at least it's not gonna be 10 days late (hopefully) since it's already on a delivery truck.

I just started, played for around 2 hours, but so far I'm not impressed:
- Plot is very cliche and delivered in way that feels like elementary school play
- Characters are flat
- Gameplay is too scripted (for now at least)
- Soundtrack sounds like Disney's Magic Kingdom background music
- That f*cking princess that act like Navi from OoT just can't shut up for a second. She makes a commentary for everything: the cat that crossed our path, the wall I blew up, the weapon I just found, where should I go and what should I do. I wanted so badly to have option at least to not hear her voice. Yes, it's that annoying.

But I'll give Elliot some more time to convince me that it is a good game.

Huh, I yawned at yet another HD-2D game (I think the SNES FF style low animation frame sprites are a complete mismatch and turn off really) but watching the trailer it looks very Ys Oath/Origin style which I adore... Is it close?

Don't be so sure.

Finally got my copy in and put in an hour. Unlocked the hammer, which is pretty cool! Also got the fire magic.

Mechanically, it's basically The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past with some modern additions.

Life still needs these simpler games... It takes me back to when it was all more chill. Sure I love all my big time games and shooters etc but this is classic prime gaming.

This game dare I say, is pretty fucking awesome. If you're a fan of Secret of Mana. Zelda, Beyond Oasis, Crusader of Centy, Alundra….GET THIS NOW. It taps into a past time when I was 12-15 years old and knee deep into playing all sorts of action JRPGs. And turn the voices all the way down for pure Square nostalgia without the acting getting in the way of the music.

Pretty blown away man

Definitely going to be on the GOTY list for sure I know it.

Thinking of picking up switch 2 game key card after work today, so I can play it through the weekend. Neogaf bros, should I do switch 2 or pc handheld for this?

All these cats have to be part of some eventual sidequest or plot point though I would find it hilarious if they were just random with no purpose whatsoever lol.

I've unlocked all weapons and got the "kill X number of enemy" trophies for half of them. Spear is objectively the best weapon in the game, specifically it's charge attack. Mow down entire groups of enemies, stagger, close distance, good reach, the total package. Now I'm messing around with spear to take them down to minimal health then finish with boomerang, good times.

Oh, and zipping around with Sprint magic makes traversing the world 10x more enjoyable 👌

Edit: literally 2 minutes after I post 😆🐈🐈🐈

Just started the game and I am about 2h in. One question though, I played through the debut demo and thought progress was going to carry over. But it didn't, was I wrong?

Enjoying it so far btw, music is giving me Efteling vibes.

All my PS5 demo progress carried over and a couple of trophies instantly popped when starting the game 🤷‍♂️

On the main menu at the bottom of the screen it should tell you to press a button to import demo save data and another to check for promotional rewards (or something to that effect).

Yeah I got the Dragon Quest goodies, but nothing for the demo. This is correct though, only the regular demo appears to have data transfer.

"*Save data from this demo cannot be carried over to the retail version."

Could have known before 😅

very hard unlocked from start?

This game seems good but the price is a complete joke imo. Demo was pretty fun but I can tell the story has no bite which is par the course for these HD 2D rpgs I guess.

More devs should copy the Chained Echoes formula

This shit is so deliciously old school. Turn off the fucking voice acting.

I came.

Hmm ... I might seriously consider doing this when I get the full game (today hopefully).

There's one more game I did this for a year or so ago, I can't recall the name, but the voice acting was goofy and making it text only like SNES era RPG's made the experience a lot better.

I've played about 5.5 hours. Performance on Deck OLED is fine for my tastes. There's not really a lot of settings to mess with and changing them around made little/no difference from what I tried. What actually mattered was changing the resolution scaling from 100% to ~75%. Dropping it to 75% it runs 60fps+ in towns and cutscenes. On the field it has largely maintained 45fps+. I did notice some 30s during one of the caves with a bunch of mobs scurrying about but it didn't really make gameplay feel any worse. Load times didn't seem much longer than what my desktop gets.

Again, this is fine for me and I could see myself playing through the entire game on my Deck OLED if needed.
