The entire atmosphere is dark and somber and the story is directly addressing extremely deep and profound grief and sadness. Your fighting against inevitable death.

The last of us 2 felt comically nihilistic.

I mean sure, the narrative themes were but much of the interactions and dialogue was quite light and often funny, and much of the aesthetic was just pretty. Last of us, irrepressibly grim….and the dog, daaaamn the dog 🫪

It's more existential dread, all in all I'd say Exp 33 is a much more darker game by nature than TLoU, TLoU is just more overtly visual about it.

I wouldn't say it's super dark, but there's definitely some sad and existential overtones throughout the whole game. But there's enough moment-to-moment levity to offset the heavier themes.

But it does get heavy, so maybe it's not the best choice right now.
