The Last 3D Mario was 8 YEARS Ago.

Outside of Galaxy on the Wii, and maybe considering 3D World remaster on the Switch. When has there been more than one for a console?
I mean usually a Nintendo console revolved around its 3d Mario and vice versa.

Super Mario 64 was designed around the N64 controller, Sunshine's island was shaped like a dolphin after the code name of the Game Cube, Galaxy 1 (and mostly 2)'s gameplay heavily revolves around the Wiimote pointer while Odyssey's quick moons and Cappy's movements being thought after the joycons is pretty telling.

I mean they technically came out with bowser's fury, and a new Mario game with Mario wonder and Mario odyssey before that. I think they should take their time, I can see one happening in 2028.

I think they wanted to try something different, so they went with Donkey Kong.

There was 6 years before 64 and Sunshine, so I don't really think it has anything to do with HD.
And the Mario team was working on that new Donkey Kong weren't they?
Not exactly, there are some strong names that weren't seen in the development of Bananza. People believe that they are working with the team that made Bowser's Fury (an smaller 3D game that OP ignored) to make the next one.

About the topic. Nintendo usually gives the Mario and Zelda team all the time they want, so I don't care much, I know that when I see those games I will see something incredible. We will see the next Mario in 2027 most certainly.

Nintendo if you give me an S tier 3d mario right now Ill pay you at least $100. Unlike Sony at least they "might" actually make something that would be "abuse worthy".

Hasn't that been Nintendo's way for a few generations? 1 main game from their top 3 IPs per system with maybe 1 crossover at the end (usually a Zelda), not including ports? It's 1 reason I don't think the value of the system is worth it, paying that much money for a handful of games for its like cycle.
People don't mind longer time development of games, when it means fewer AAA games in a console.
Ports, remasters, remakes happens.

One of the factors that cause AAA games to takes so long to develop is more people involved on it, because it leads to more coordination time needed.

On the 7th gen, crunch culture was prevalent, which is why AAA games took like 2 to 3 years to develop.

Huge Nintendo fan and Switch 2 owner. I enjoyed DK Bananza but no new 3d Mario in almost 10yrs is unacceptable at this point.
Totally agree, I thought for sure we would have it in 2026, only reason why I think is they are avoiding GTA6. Maybe they unveil it in September at a Direct and launch in February or March.

I'm kind of surprised we haven't seen it yet, although I guess Nintendo has the luxury of time on their side.

I'd be baffled if DK wasn't in production in parallell with the next 3D Mario. Would be very surprised, and a bit worried, if it's not out by next year.

There will 100% be a new 3D Mario this gen. What does it matter when it releases? It certainly won´t be at the tail end of the generation.
I´d rather Nintendo take their time and put out something truly special instead just shitting out a new game because "it´s time". We´ve seen what releasing a somewhat unfinished game leeds to with Mario Sunshine. It hurt the Gamecube more than it helped, should´ve taken their time and polished it until it´s ready.
