"Françoise Cadol, the French actor who overdubbed the character of Lara Croft in the Angelina Jolie-led movies and lent her voice to the French versions of the original '90s games, has taken legal action against Aspyr Media following accusations that her voice was replicated using AI in the recent Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered"

"We've addressed this issue by removing all AI voiceover content, while retaining the improvements made in the previous update. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please reach out to our customer support site with any issues."

Imo AI should only be used for background characters in a scene (like a crowd scene, or bar scene, etc), never main characters or npc's.
Just my oponion of course.

Kinda easy to be upset as a voice actor when you were involved with the original work, and the new artifical voice still sounds like you, but once new games just use AI from the start that happens to be somewhat similar to your sound, proving that it uses your voice will be impossible. I would assume the tools are more and more ready to mimick accents from wherever while not sounding like one particular person they used for creation but as a mix of many and easy options to alter anything. Using less characteristics of one singular famous person (or struggling voice actor) than any impressionist, just tweaked to something that the voice team feels fitting to the character. Once you have that voice it can do any line whatsoever forever, not even the death of a voice actor will alter the character anymore. Your 90 year old magician will be able sound the same for any future release... I guess future artifical voices will find new Morgan Freemans too. Browsing video and voice chats all the time and creating data on a billion people. I would assume the only voice acting jobs kinda save are those for already established big names from Hollywood since some games still feel like officially using an actual person voice and or entire digital character helps their sales.
