I did stuff on cam4 for awhile but it got old to me, and I never bothered trying to make money.

Nowadays it's just posting mostly-unclothed pictures on tumblr.

I never show my face on those pics though, or when I was camming, cuz I am/was too shy ;(

edit: hah, top of the page. perf.

I always wondered about people posting pictures / camming (for free). What is your motivation for doing it?

I'm narcissistic :) and it's hot!

I'd still worry about someone recording me on cam though :/ that's definitely one big reason I never got back into it

I thought it would be something along the line of 'it's exciting' (in a sexual sense) or 'positive feedback'.
Unless you're a public figure or a famous person, I don't think it'll come back to you.

You do know that people do... 'stuff' while looking at said pictures / cams tho? :p

Even tho I probably have never seen you, I want to thank you and any other person who does this kind of thing, on behalf of the internet. :)

A very interesting read, indeed. I visit the website every now and then and always wonder how many of my friends go to it, or the number of visitors the site gets vs. another regular porn site, like porn hub. I think it is getting popular, but still a niche(?).

I like the parts in the article that compared it to the 'olden internet days.' The site truly has that vibe to it. Even its layout feel old or reminiscent of old internet websites.

I will admit that I made about 150 dollars on that website. It was a weird, interesting, experience. You really need to be charismatic, and not only have the looks. I also got to meet all sorts of interesting people, and creepy ones too. I think broadcasting in a sexual way is a fun thing to do if you don't mind the risk of being 'found out' and judged.

Sometimes theres couples bang on camera, not expecting any tokens. And when theyre done they turn off the cam not saying a word. Im pretty sure they get off on people watching.

Yeah that's what I was saying we do. It's a really hot rush.

This thread is weirdly depressing. I don't have a problem with people 'expressing' their sexuality online at all but doing it to make money just seems so desolate.

And the fact that so many posters have anecdotes about having done stuff on the site themselves (or friends and relatives) is weird to me as well.

I wonder if this is my 'No County For Old Men' Internet related moment.

i would say owning your sexuality and making money off of dudes willing to throw money is less "desolate" than working crappy retail/food-service jobs in college. at least some of these girls make tons of money...

my best buddy's wife does one of these sites btw. she makes about $45 an hour or so just by doing 1on1 cams.

So is it better or worse than strip clubs?
How about bars with waitresses who dress certain ways for tips?
How about people who use dating as a means for profit?

Exactly. If the person doing it enjoys it, is not hurting anyone, AND makes a living off it... What could be better?

I know I've given thousands of people pleasure through the photos I share and that makes me happy. I never made a dime off them but it would only make it better if I did.

My friend could just have chaturbate on and do whatever, like her hair, makeup, talk to people, and she'll still make some cash.

I go on cam sites a lot (like 'em better than porn... there's just a nice quality to knowing something is live), and it seems like MFC is a bit better for this. At least from my observation girls don't seem to get quite as much tips on Chaturbate as on MFC. Probably because you can hop to another room and see sex going on. On MFC I see a ton of girls that rarely take off their clothes and make fucking bank. You just have to be a good personality.

I could be wrong on who makes more, though, since I don't know the breakdowns of profit that goes to CB or MFC after tips. I just notice actual sex shows get a good amount on CB, but not as much the sitting around doing nothing stuff.

I personally like a lot of the girls on MFC, and only switch to CB if some of my favorites aren't on.

I saw some weird shit with a gothic lolita dressing up like a tin soldier-girl (complete with red blush makeup) and doing some bad things to a stuffed bear.

I'm not quite sure how I feel...

I kind of agree. On one hand, do what you want, I guess. I'm certainly not being forced to watch.

But I don't think I could ever try and do this "for a living". I'd like to think I have more to offer the world than performing sexual acts on camera. (To be fair, you can argue working a McDonald's isn't any better from a "use any skills" standpoint.) Which I guess is where I take issue with the author's thesis that was built into the piece—it doesn't actually seem like a real descriptor for why people are doing it, it just sounds good. I think they went into it with the idea of "desperate out-of-work young people screw for tips!" and wrapped a more-compelling but less-explored issue.

And if it's your No Country moment, it's mine too.

this one girl I know through an acquaintance made close to $100,000 last year on MFC (don't PM me for her username). She goes to school w/o any loans and frequently goes to NYC for shopping sprees.

While she does do some sex stuff, it's pretty tame in comparison to what you see on like chaturbate or w/e.

Can't hate on her. lol

I consistently see some women on camlive make hundreds of dollars per show with multiple shows per day.

Yeah, I see that a lot, especially if the girl has skills.

People seem to think this it's just you get naked and make money. It isn't. There are quite a few girls that are pretty great looking and naked quite a bit that don't make a whole helluva lot. You have to have some marketing and social skills. You have to know how to tease, and how to really be personable. That's when you start making a lot more. You have to play the mystery and the magic of sexuality rather than just putting it out there.

Agreed. The girls and couples that really make bank do everything they can. Games, shows, auctions for underwear, contests, incentives.

I know a girl who makes close to £700 a month doing a few live webcam shows a week. She starts off clothed then, as the tips come in, she loses her clothes. Every now and then, when she gets a big tip, she'll perform a cum show. She enjoys it, her viewers enjoy it - it's win-win.

700 a month is literally nothing

Popular Twitch streamers can easily get over $ 2000+ a day

I think people using CB are missing out on the big money

For a while, my girl and I were contemplating starting a nude gamers series, but then twitch shut that shit down.

I know that one of my (straight) bodybuilder friends hosted a camshow in which he would pose and wank for gay viewers. His position was that you didn't need to be gay or engage in sex with anybody else, but just please those viewers.

He didn't become rich or anything like that, but he used it for a while to supplement his income and even recommended it to some of us (no, not my thing).

Oh yeah, I'm sure they are, haha. I don't mind that at all, that's hot to me too :p

And yeah I'm sure things coming back to me is a low chance, but I just can't shake that feeling. Maybe in the future I'll get over it.

And you're very welcome :)

Gotta say, the fact that you can run into someone you 'know', be it an EX, someone from your university, ex classmate or even just someone from GAF makes visiting those sites even more exciting. Now that I know that many people just make it for fun, and not as a job makes it feel even more 'real'.
I'm kinda tempted to search for some nicknames from this thread. Will probably yield nothing, but I'm curious.

Holy fucking shit! I never visit Twitch, how do people typically monetize it? Is it like YouTube (ads, merch, sponsorships)?
Most is donations and I was fucking floored when I saw how much some people give. I saw a Hearthstone streamer, I think it was Behkuh, get over $30,000 in donations in one day from one person.

Confession time: I've broadcast myself there a couple times, for kicks. It was... interesting. I have always had self-esteem problems and I definitely didn't expect the... *ahem*... "positive" feeback I got from the viewers. It was strangely uplifting. I think I got a hundred followers from that little adventure, lol. Never did the registration to get tips, however.

Terrisus, I love you man, but it is so ironic to me that you pop up in almost every thread that's about sex.

On topic: I like money. I like having sex. I need to ask my GF about doing this.

Are there even threads where Terrisus doesn't show up?
