I need some DVD ripping software to archive my collection of discs that come with guitar playing magazines.

Any good programs that are ideally portable (run from folder without installing anything)?

The one I use, which is free while in beta is Makemkv. Once you download it you can find the beta key on their forums. I use it with handbrake which doesn't seem to take too many resources.
I used to use a program called dvdfab when I was on Windows and it worked pretty well too.

I use makemkv and handbrake. Makemkv to rip and handbrake to encode. I've also used WinXDVD for ripping and encoding. It does a decent job.
