Looks like Ps5 is finally beating Switch 1 consistently in Japan. Still long way to go to beat Switch 2. Big price drop and pspnextgen really needed by Sony to beat Switch 2.

Still not exploding but DKB doing a quarter of the weeks console sales isn't bad.

Edit - The switch 1 Oled outsold all Nintendo products combined by it's self? Does it do that often and I've just not been paying attention?

There's been a bit of a pattern in recent years where, usually, the software lineup in Q4 would be strong for Switch but not for Playstation, and this would be followed by a Q1 that was strong for Playstation but not Switch.

But as Japanese developers become more multiplatform that may no longer be the case. Q4 and Q1 look very strong for both Playstation and Switch, so we'll have a lot of numbers to discuss in the next 6 months!

Looks like there might be a shortage of physical copies at retail for Digimon Story: Time Stranger due to a surprise surge in pre-orders.

◤◢◤ Notice Regarding the Physical Edition ◢◤◢
Regarding the physical edition of "Digimon Story: Time Stranger," due to its popularity, there is a possibility that it may become difficult to obtain during the release week.

For customers wishing to purchase the physical edition, we kindly ask that you make a reservation at your preferred retailer as soon as possible.

Digital sales on Steam (JP) are also tracking really well.

How long before Switch 2 overtakes PS5 in Japan? End of 2026? Mid 2027? Sooner?
A lot depends on stock, but I think mid 2027 is likely.

It's silly the game doesn't have a Switch 2 version, but glad that it's still finding success!

Very true and yeah it's most likely not going to happen next year, not with extremely high demand in other, more competitive markets...so yeah 2027 is the safer bet. Hope Sony uses this time wisely before Nintendo blows past them, again

Aside from taking a loss on the hardware, there's not much they can do in that time. They already get most of the big third party games, and they just launched a new entry in their biggest first party franchise in Japan.

Technically, their biggest first party franchise in Japan is Gran Turismo, and it is worth noting there is still not a single PS5 exclusive GT game.

Of course, GT's star has fallen in recent years, and GoT did manage to reach 1 million sold in Japan, which GT has not since... PS2?

GT4 was the last to definitely reach 1 million. GT7 mayyyy have done but we don't know for sure.

And yes GT was bigger than Ghost in the past. Its a good point about there not being a PS5 exclusive GT game yet.
