You know what I mean, does it warrant ths amount of sales. I played it on gamecube and after a couple of weeks the game was useless, is it a lot better than the GC version? And the sales equals good games angle is crap, after all 50 Cent: Bulletproof sold over a million copies.

Looks like the DS is doing better in France than it is in America. 3rd party games are even selling.

Well, the French Top is one of the best top I ever seen. Why ?
Because there's more AAA games and less C games then USA, UK, Australia (for example).
It is a pleasure to see that Frecnh People buy overall good games, and in any cases, more then many other States !

DQ did good, but I hope it has legs to be the FFVII of DQ series...that is, every next DQ must come to Europe translated.

This is no suprise. France is traditionally a good market for Nintendo. The Gamecube outsold the XBOX easily there. I think they prefer the sort of wacky and colourful (that what some people like to call 'kiddy') image of the Japanese console over the "raw horsepower" (well, at least in 2002 :lol ) image of the XBOX.

The French are also very fond of other Japanese products such as manga (and anime). They have a rich animation culture of their own (much more than for instance the English), so maybe that's why. Imho it's no coincidence that a visually beautifully crafted game such as Beyond Good and Evil (Ubisoft) has its roots in France.

Yeah, the strong similarities and influences flowing between Japan and France when it comes to games, animation and comic books have always been very obvious to me too.

Look at their games magazines. RPGs and animation all over.

Animal Crossing is doing amazingly, and so are the versions of Nintendogs. DS is really defying preconceptions (I expected it to do mediocrely in Europe).
