Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn - Release Trailer

TintoConCasera

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
The last DLC for Grim Dawn finally has a date: July 23rd, 2026!

Massive new world region
60+ new bosses
New mastery: Berserker
250+ new unique itens
6210 potion combinations

Awesome, I was waiting for this and it'll make for an excellent summer game.

Yeah no wonder you couldn't wait, damn thing seemed like it was never going to come out lol
Yeah it was "late 2025" for the longest time but hard not to expect delays these days.

Knew this was around the corner though when they released the public test for all the UX changes that are patched into the base game.

Man, it's been a looooong wait. I didn't play the expansions after the first one (was that Malmouth?), so I'm genuinely excited for this come out and give me an excuse to tank through the entire thing. Still my favorite modern Diablo game, by far.

Forgotten Gods, the expansion after Malmouth is really good. Has the Shattered Realms thing too which is a re-playable dungeon for grinding with great gear once you get to the higher levels.

If any of u guys like proper hack&slash games, with bit retro take but still modern with all needed quality of life improvements i strongly recommend it, trailer doesnt give the game justice at all.

Watch this review on top, it shows tons of mid/endgame gameplay and is very in deep, made by veteran grim dawn player too so u know it wont be case like with d4 when it was solid early on and it dropped ball hard at mid/endgame:

Never played it. Maybe I should. is the story good?
The story is almost entirely told via very brief convos about mission objectives and then loads of little notes laying around that you can ignore if you want.

It's not like a Blizzard game where they throw a bunch of cinematics at you, I think there's only 2 or something like that lol

I am looking forward to this, I also started a few new toons recently, as well as bought Dragonkin: The Banished for some arpg goodness. I just finished Monochrome Mobius (not great), and started Dragonkin and STARBITES, as well as having Berseria at the penultimate dungeon... I can probably finish them before this. If so, then I have some other games near done that I might be able to close out. Work has been an annoyance for a few month now, and burnout/interest and who knows, maybe ADHD has me game hopping worse than normal.

Anyways, I hope the mods get updated really fast since I almost exclusively play on one of the modded versions of the game.

I believe POE2 is the best ARPG but I've never played GD. How does it compare?

I liked Titan Quest, but most bossfights were more of a stat check rather than a matter of skill. How's GD in that regard? The presence of a dodge button makes me guess there's more skill involved here.

Game is proper AA midsized budget game, but u can tell right away it has none of stuff that modern AAA games are troubled with, everything has its peculiar charm and is handcrafted, none of that random generated shit(maps do have some but very sublime not in ur face variations but even then it all feels genuine and not artifically made).
It combines that oldschool feel of Diablo 1 and 2 with all modern improvements w/o being crazy poe-alike scary monster nor casual grindfest like d4, game is easy to start/beat on normal but hard to master and has proper depth, u and only u decide how deep u wanna dive, at each lvl it will bring u tons of joy :)

One of its many features is extreme choice of builds and dual class system( u can stay single class, go proper 50-50 dual or just tiny bit of one and mostly other of ur classes). That makes each playtrough and each build more personal and closer to ur heart :)

Grim Dawn is more about character build then reactive gameplay if that's what you are asking. You can build a super tank, a beam melter mage, bullet hell character, DoT Debuffer, Pet Builds, melee focused but a lot of bosses are going to be stat checks more then anything.

If you are looking for MMO lite boss mechanics like in PoE2 then Grim Dawn doesn't have those.

IMO it's a well balanced game, feature complete and you can play offline or with friends.

GD is a bit more skill based but it isn't POE2.

It is significantly more dynamic than Titan Quest though. It's a true follow up in the sense the developers built on what they had created before and made it better. I do like the concept of Titan Quest and the different areas but the core gameplay is beaten by Grim Dawn handily. Much better itemization and classes too.

I feel this game is old. I don't like playing old games. Is it old and look like an Atari game?

The trailer seems to be purposefully zooming in and trying not to show too much.

The game looks way less old than this kind of bad trailer is depicting.

edit: Just realized you quoted the review that has way better footage, you think that looks like an Atari game? The hyperbole lol To each their own but I think it looks good. It's a hand drawn style vs. the too clean look of other ARPGS (for my taste.)

I played GD and its expansions like I played TQ. Just basic hack and slash, nothing too advanced. GD has a great atmosphere.
That's my plan! I loved the unga-bunga build in TQ and will be rolling something similar for GD.
