How much money should I bring to Japan?

I'm applying for an eight week summer program, and I'll be homestaying the entire time. Breakfast and dinner is provided, but I need to request money for lunch, occasional dinners, toiletries, and school supplies. Will USD $120/week be enough?

Anything more specific? I'll be in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture (which I assume isn't as expensive as Tokyo?).

School supplies aren't too expensive if you mean pens and pencils. If it's just for lunch, you can grab a sandwich for 2 bucks at a convenience store, and as for dinner, that should be about 10 bucks. So really it all boils down to how much you want to spend on games and miscellaneous junk :p

Take all the money that you have in the world, and take out a loan for some more. It's not that it's expensive, but they have AWESOME shit. :lol
