Intel Global CPU Price Increases for 12th–14th Gen Core Processors

ntel has officially raised prices for its 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Core processors around the world. What started as rumor is now showing up across online retailers and distributors in Asia and Europe. Depending on the model, the increases range from roughly 6 to 30 percent, making some CPUs noticeably more expensive than they were just weeks ago. The trend started in South Korea and Japan, where several popular models saw clear jumps. The Core i5-12400F went from about 159,000 won to 177,000 won (around $132 USD), while the Core i3-13400F and i3-14100F climbed 14 and 15 percent respectively. Higher-end chips were hit harder: the i5-14600KF rose 13 percent, the i5-14400F about 6 percent, and the i9-13900K spiked nearly 30 percent, now costing over one million won in some stores.

Europe seems to be following, yet slowly. Retailers in Spain and Germany have begun adjusting prices on low- and mid-range models like the i3-12100 and i5-13400F. In many cases, official Intel stock has sold out, and independent resellers are setting higher prices as demand stays steady.
This move also lines up with the company's current market position. Intel's Core Ultra laptops and early desktop previews haven't clearly outperformed AMD's Ryzen 7000 and 9000 lineups. Raising margins on older chips could help offset slower sales while the company transitions to its new architecture with built-in AI acceleration.
For gamers and PC builders, the price changes mean value options like the i5-13400F or i3-13100 may no longer be the easy budget picks they once were. AMD's Ryzen 7600 and 8700 models could gain traction if Intel's prices remain high into 2026. On the other hand, enthusiasts who already own LGA 1700 motherboards might still choose to upgrade within the same platform before it's replaced.

Looks like they are targeting mid-range as the highest volume area for the biggest increases.

Looking at it, the prices are all over the place region to region.

Did they ever even fix the performance with the 2XX series?

What's the current state of play with their latest CPUs vs AMD's?

Got a i5-136000k on sale for black for $175. No regrets and this cpu is a gaming beast.

I did the motherboard update for my 14700F. For some reason I was under the impression that it was supposed to explode. Nope, still works.

Intel managed to do a couple of partnerships with some game developers, like CDPR, to improve performance on CP2077.
So now a 285K kinda matches a 14900K and the 9700X in some games. But still loses badly in others. Overall, a 14900K is a better option, as long as the UEFI is updated.
But then there are the X3D parts, and these humiliate anything that Intel has.

I love my 9700x and it's never left me wanting for more but a 285k just managing to match it is abysmal considering the price delta between the two.

It's a very inconsistent CPU for gaming.
So no wonder that Intel has been selling a lot more 14th gen, than 200 series CPUs.
And this price increase reflects that.

When you're dependent on support for middling performance boosts to even be able to compete, your hardware is no good. They were good budget CPUs at the firesale prices (especially with bundled games) but at this point anyone gaming is better off with AMD (X3D is worth the premium, especially if you'll keep it a while).
