Lantern | Trailer (HBO/DC)

Damn, there's a lot to unpack in that new trailer.

All those "no Lantern stuff" posts on the first page... time to eat crow. Not only are there several Green Lanterns using the ring, even Sinestro shows up in the trailer.

Why? People have the right to criticize what they have been shown, especially since a trailer is supposed to make them want to see it. As long as it's not blind hate of course but I think the first trailer got shit for fair reasons.

Now this second trailer is way better, there's no question about it. Finally a glimpse of the constructs, space, the costume (well I still have reservations about Hal, but we'll see about John's), the action seems well executed, there's charisma on screen, no lame jokes... honestly I'm happy to have my hopes for this series restored.

But I'll probably wait until everything is released. I feel like we'll enjoy the series more if we can binge-watch the episodes over a weekend.

2nd trailer is definitely better. Now to see how they balance the screentime between the cool power stuff and the whatever stuff is going on in the town.

Because there is no conceivable reality where DC Studios were making a Green Lantern show without the Lanterns doing their thing. The logical conclusion to the first trailer should have been "the VFX probably isn't done yet", not "omg they're making a Green Lantern show without any green"

But hey, at least that nonsense gave the marketing team something to run with :messenger_grinning_smiling:

I think the internet tends to jump off of a cliff with takes far too soon when something is first teased, leaked, or mentioned in public.

This was just another moment where that happened 🤷‍♂️
I could say the same thing about fanboys who always find excuses and gaslight others even when what was shown was catastrophic 🤷‍♂️
First trailer is shit, second trailer is way better. Nothing complicated, there is no "gotcha" because most people (beside trolls) knew things could change with another look.

Relax a bit. No one here is psychologically abusing anyone.

Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse. It's a bit dramatic to say people are psychologically abusing each other over the Green Lantern show.
Fair enough, it was more because "gaslighting" has become extremely popular on the internet in recent years, losing it's first (and strong) meaning. Like when I say ''you're crazy!", I'm not actually thinking this person is crazy. I could be wrong tho.

Also some fanboys are scary, for real. I'm obviously not talking about here but on more DC focused platforms it's been a bloodbath. I tend to be on the defensive now, especially since I like Snyder (and apparently I MUST hate everything made under Gunn, this show included even if in fact I think this looks very good thanks to that second trailer).

Being a DC fan has been a wild ride these past 10 years lol.

Yeah, it's definitely become a lot more common recently. I think because there's more people looking to see pretty much everything through that victim/abuser dynamic. So that's why I think it's worth making fun of a bit, since it pushes back on that.

Hopefully this one turns out well. I wasn't as down on the first trailer as some but like you say this looks a lot better.

My post applies to all parties.

"With the information presented today the people who were completely unaware of this information because none of this information was shown to them in the previous trailer look pretty silly"

Re: the original trailer

John survives a fall in a runaway car over a cliff
Hal flies
Hal clearly is about to use his ring on someone

That's just from memory of what the original trailer had that showed they were clearly doing "Green Lantern stuffs"

The people who watched the trailer about the Green Lantern show were "completely unaware" that Green Lanterns would be doing Green Lantern things in the show?

Spoiler: The Batman II will have Batman doing Batman things, even if it's not shown in the trailer

That looked amazing. I think this is the way to do a Lanterns TV show in a way that could interest someone who isn't a fan. Most people think about the Ryan Reynolds movie when they hear the name. This is a good looking show.

It actually looked a bit like something directed by Snyder. Visually.
