This was the first week 3DS was the top software seller in Media Create top 100, but overall maybe PSP won again, Famitsu will tell. Last week it was a close second begind PSP and first time it went over 20% marketshare after launch.

One Piece...the saviour of the 3DS. Toei or Namco Bandai should swiftly bring an original One Piece title to the system.

You're not the savior of anything when you drop 80% in your second week.

Back to predicting after E3, added 3DS HW to spice it up.

Most games get comparable drops 2nd week. MHP3 dropped 70% it's 2nd week.

Not that I think One Piece is any sort of savior though.

300k for Cardboard Senki? I think it can do it. There's been a TV-anime on the air since March, and unlike Ni No Kuni, the gigantic toy in the box isn't needed for gameplay.

Monster Hunter opened considerably larger, and had huge sell throughs to deal with. One Piece doesn't have that.

Fine, then MH3, FFXIII, MGS5, or any other number of games. My point was a gigantic 2nd week dropoff isn't really irregular, it's the norm.

The last spin-off was Kenzan and it's already beaten its LTD. Delay + poor demo probably didn't help though.

He lists Famitsu as source but f-ish.net subsribers don't get first week sales before Wednesday. Unless Enterbrain gave early numbers especially for this title he is just guessing based on first day sales and previous first day/first week ratio of Yakuza titles.

They said if there was enough demand, they would ship more though. (I have no idea if there is any tough).

And how does level 5 still manage to convince retailer to order their game in such big quantity? Ni No Kuni was overshipped and Inazuma 3 too (I don't know about The Ogre)... You'd think retailers would feel a bit burned at this point.

The Ogre was undershipped, most likely because of first two versions of IE3 being overshipped. Level-5 certainly likes to stuff channels, although one might argue their DS games have good legs and Nintendo takes a while to produce units even if you need them quickly.

The problem I see with Danball Senki is that they are huge boxes like Ninokuni, so retailers will want a high sellthrough on release and first weeks. Slow burning legs with these boxes doesn't work well.

For an optimistic outlook, seems Danball Senki has some buzz already going (given the anime aired first, unlike Inazuma Eleven), the shipment is half of Ninokuni, original Inazuma game went on to do 400k and the big boxes seem to be first shipment only, so if it picks up some slow-burning legs retailers should receive normal-sized boxes in any following shipments. (That first Inazuma game took like half a year to do 300k though, retailers aren't going to wait that much to sell these humongous boxes).

So it seems like IE Go will be released this holiday season. So 3DS sales should take off right before the Vita launches at the end of the year.

http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/06/15/3ds_inazuma_eleven_winter/

With Mario 3D, Mario Kart 3D, MGS3D, Love +, Inazuma 11, Slime Mori 3 + some lesser titles the system just has to sell.

Yea, the 3DS is lining up a killer holiday season. With a good holiday season, I think it can salvage 4mil this year out of this slow start, maybe a bit more.

Yakuza of The End kinda low?

Apparently the demo was mediocre. Also isn't it pretty much a spin-off? Those don't sell as well as the main games usually.

Edit: But yeah it's kinda low for the series.

It is a spinoff, so it isnt that easy to compare it directly to the main Yakuza games. Other Yakuza spinoff games have been Kenzan (sold about 271k, and about 65k for the re-release) and the game for PSP (sold about 265k).
