Somebody or a team dedicated enough could get rid of Raiden and have you play as Snake throughout. Cut scenes would have to be cut and codec conversations modified. Far too much hassle than its worth though.

Ha. That reminds of pre mgs 2 substance release.

Not sure if it was Kojima full on lying or games magazines totally getting it wrong, but in the lead up it was being touted that you could play as Snake in the big shell chapter of mgs2.

People naturally thought you would play what snake (or pliskin) got up to. But no. They character swapped raiden with snake.

I'm having a hard time finding it now, there are some github but seems to be very incomplete now.
