My thoughts on God Of War Ragnarok

Heimdall definitely pushed him towards the old Kratos we used to know. I think if the fight had happened early in GOW2018, he definitely would've turned back into that man. But my man went to anger management and just savaged heimdall instead lol

Yeah, I get that. Heimdall definitely brought Kratos closer to the old version of himself. I honestly expected that moment to happen during the Thor fight instead — especially with all the buildup and their shared history. If any fight was going to fully unleash the old Kratos, it felt like it should've been Thor.

It was great overall.

That Thor fight was pretty fun. I definitely enjoyed Thor being like "you know what? Fuck you Odin" lol

I remember feeling that the game was spectacular to look at graphics wise but the story, characters and gameplay were just so.....flat and bland.

I hated the combat as well, for a Greek God why the fuck am I getting fucked up by these shitty normal enemies...

I've been wanting to replay it, but those son sections keep me away. Especially that part where you ride on the elephant thing. I used to think Halo's Library level would be the worst level to replay….

To me, God of War 2018 was peak, like, I never thought it'd hit that hard. When you get the Blades back, all the tension, the vibe, the soundtrack... dude, just typing this gives me chills. Absolute masterpiece. I even double-dipped and platinumed it on both Steam and PS4. Then Ragnarok came along and man, I wish I hadn't played it—such a letdown.

I feel the same, GoW 2018 was amazing and one of my all time favourites, from the refreshing change to the gameplay to Kratos going to new lands and the story was so good, hell i even liked Atreus, everything felt natural to me, and Ragnarok isn't bad imo and i would replay it for sure as the gameplay mostly is fun, but sadly i didn't like most of the plot, there were cool moments like Kratos emotional moment when he discovere he will be a loved god, but those moments were few, at least for me the gameplay was good and i enjoyed most of it.

I liked it, but of course the novelty fell off after 2018.

But the plot-twist was a big surprise, I haven't seen such plot-twist in my recent gaming experience, and it was fun to see.

2018 and ragnarok revitalized Kratos and god of war. What's the deal with comparing it to the ps2 and 3 games? It qualified for multiple game of the year awards, the Norse lore, moneys worth at 15+ chapters, 40+ hour game it's just a really good game and I think the internet asks a lot of story telling, and we're talking about people who consume memes and 4chan content on a consistent basis.

What plot twist? I haven't played it since it released and don't recall any twists?

2018 is a masterpiece. Ragnarok was a fun time and it started off really special. I still remember riding the little boat around the first two areas and how awesome exploring everything was then. The beginning of the game felt so hopeful.

By the time I realized it wasn't as good it was almost over. So most of my time with the game was under the illusion that it was also a masterpiece. That kinda elevated it a bit for me early on.

It started to drag during the last half and while not a bad game is more of an impressive videogame opera than the adventure 2018 was. I agree a smaller scale and more focused story and a shorter runtime for a character action game like this is ideal. I think you could cut half of the game out of Ragnarok and end up with a better game. I feel like I spent a lot of time running thru filler woods killing filler trash mobs and that wasn't the case in part 1. I did love they removed the stain of environmental puzzles from the game with part 2, so it wasn't all bad. Just the story wasn't there to hold up the runtime and there was too much gameplay and honestly story filler. Still great but not up there with the best.

Tyr was Odin the whole time.

I gave God of War 2018 a 8/10 because they tried to make something new, the pacing was mix, but the first time using the leviatan was something I never saw ever. Was great.
Not to mention the scene where Kratos go back to his house to get the Blade of Chaos is the best scenes ever.

Yes, Atreus is a annoying piece of shit, but still I gave a 8 out of 10 because GoW 2018 was a risk play.

So, giving 8/10 to 2018, I gave God of War:Ragnarok a 2/10.

A well deserved 2/10 for the same shit game, double down Atreus, trash lore and awful new characters.

I live in Brazil and I laught my ass out when I enter into some of the game stores here(Lojas Americanas) and saw one of the biggest posters ever, making market of God of War :Ragnarok.

The problem? The poster was with the big God of War: Ragnarok LOGO and instead of Kratos or even instead of that prick Atreus, was this new character Atreus have love interess. Thats its.

That day I learn everything I need to know about Sony intentions about this franchise.

Anw, 2/10. Fuck this game.

Yeah man, the part where you have to play with Atreus and the girl in that chapter doing basically nothing but talking and walking was the moment where I realized what the fuck am I playing man, this is not God of War

100% this

Horrible "modern" dialogue. Forced walking sections. Safe and disney-fied story,

The worst offender and will make the game age HORRIBLY though: is the pacing and cut up levels with loading-squeeze-sections in the game.
Seriosly it feels older than PS2 era games in that aspect
Yeah I mentioned this above as a complaint but I want to reinforce that I knew I was done after squeezing through my tenth crevice in 20 minutes.

It feels like my gaming soul was slowly being sucked out by this game. I think it might be cursed.

And yeah Atreus is annoying a shit. I need to mention that too. It's a double whammy bc he's written terribly and then you have to watch as Kratos is punked around by his kid. Just awful lol.

Some may call it character development but I just see a purple hair wearing Kratos skin and talking through his mouth. That ain't Kratos. Find some other franchise to turn into a daddy simulator bc God of War should offer players irreverent but fun violence and most of all a sense of scale.

It is refreshing to see more people waking up to the fact that Ragnarok was a POS game in almost every sense. It will age absolutely horribly. Way worse than the old GoW games for sure.

It is a product that could only have been produced in the early 2020-ies. It has ALL issues from that era and nothing really good. From technical squeezy sections from PS4-compability to nutered character dialogue and story made in a board room in california

It is a complete package least

my only disappointment in the game is the lack of massive boss battles like the classic GoW, somehow FF16 is full of those. The game hyped up Ragnorok and the direction it has taken was lame as hell, atleast make Kratos fight along side with Ragnorok at the end kind GoW3 Gaia or something. I still like the game though.

GoW 3 still has the best boss battles in the series and 2 has the best pacing and sense of adventure. Also hard to top the intro boss in 2.
