when you combine those numbers with the GCN franchises and see how all the titles are giving themselves competition (look at 4 Mario games on GBA + several Mario-related on GCN), it looks like Nintendo is doing pretty well for itself at the moment...

If you ignore the competition, sure Nintendo is doing well.

Actually, if I bring in the competition (XBox division of Microsoft losing money, that recent thread stating Sony hasn't made up for PS2 investment), then compare that to Nintendo (profits), Nintendo is doing really well...

The one thing to truly stand out to me from this month's sales was that both Super Mario Advance and Super Mario Advance 3 sold under 11k units -- especially low for the original Super Mario Advance. Hopefully Nintendo takes note and lowers them to $20 soon (yeah right). I am still waiting on a price drop of SMA 2 and 3 to buy them as I simply refuse to buy such old releases for full price.

I think the most impressive sales number is Mario Kart Super Circuit which sells another 20k or so every month. Nintendo is dumb for having never released a GBA sequel.. the NDS version should sell quite well however.

So.. I guess they're not going third party.

Can anyone put a figure towards average GBA development costs? The fact that they're creaming off this much money on ports is nothing short of magic.

When did the whole fad idea come up?

As for the Japanese figures (again, a rough estimate -- likely closer to say $200,000,000 after lowered prices and all)...

(4800¥ * 5.1 million) / (108 ¥/$) = $226,666,666.67

Pokémon Fire Red/Leaf Green sales
(4800¥ * 2.1 million) / (108 ¥/$) = $93,333,333.33

Pokémon Pinball Ruby & Sapphire sales
(4800¥ * 320,000) / (108 ¥/$) = $14,222,222.22

Pokémon Colosseum sales
(5800¥ * 600,000) / (108 ¥/$) = $32,222,222.22

In all likelihood including the minor sales of Channel and Box in Japan, we're looking at roughly $600 million off of the games this gen. Colosseum has apparently sent the GC sales soaring throughout Europe as well although of course we have no hard numbers. I know that as of Nintendo's last financial report, Ruby/Sapphire was at 12.7 million copies worldwide so that would be at least 3 million copies sold in Europe. I know the retail price in the UK is £29.99 which would be a whopping $54.35 although I'm not sure what it's like throughout the rest of Europe.

wow, strong sales all around.

Even "niche" WarioWare sold 200K.

EDIT: whoever claims 2D is dead is an idiot. The proof is in the pudding.

I think AW2 and Wario Ware are a little low, but can't complain with the rest of the sales. All in all, some definite ownage.

Wow, I didn't know Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire where at almost 4 mil in the US. God, if nintendo wants DS to succeed just launch it with Pokemon and all will be good. I mean, the system's interface is begging for a rendition of the franchice- just think of kids actually CALLING pokemon out, cheering them and even petting them?
