How big was the GBA SP battery? 700 mAH?

And finally, a word of advice. While playing the Nintendo DS using the wireless multiplayer capabilities, keep at least 22 centimeters of distance from anyone using a heart pacemaker (or so the manual prescribes)...

I didnt know WiFi could affect those.

Wow, I had no idea WiFi could affect pacemakers...

Battery rechargeable only 500 times? That's got to be a typo.

They probably meant rechargable for 500 times before the battery life starts losing its potential. After 500 times, you'll notice a decrease in battery life

Technically, any electrical device could affect pacemakers. It's especially true for those that emit some significant form of radiation, which includes obvious thigns like microwaves, to radio devices like cell phones and WiFi-enabled devices.

Indeed. Its more a 'safe than sorry' type of thing. You aren't likely to walk down the street with a NDS and have people falling dead on the sidewalk or anything. Its the same thing that has kept electronics from operating on planes at certain points. Its not LIKELY that anything will affect the plane's instruments - but you don't want to have a plane crash and find out someone surfing porn on a camera phone was the culprit.

Would have been a great option for Atlus' caduceus, talk about a revolution in game interraction.

I quote, from the manual...
"The rechargeable battery pack can be recharged approximately 500 times, but performance may decrease after repeated recharges, depending on usage conditions such as temperature. Battery life may also decrease over time. After 500 recharges, battery life may become only 70% of the battery life when new."

I'm glad the GBASP charger works, in case I ever lost either one.
it doesn't say that. It says the DS recharger can also be used to charge the GBA SP ;)

Which manual is this?

It's pretty safe to assume they'll both work on either system though, just as the N64 AV cables work on GC.

the manual for the NDS (probably not the final version though) :)
where else do you think I got this info from?

What makes you think the final changes to the system will just be cosmetic?

I don't. If you refer to something from the 'article', what I meant was that the NDS has changed on a few things compared to the version shown at E3. Most obviously, the look of the unit was changed (slimmer design, room for stylus, L/R buttons reshaped, etc), but also stereo sound was introduced and such.
However, the test report (and the manual that came with it) were based on the first version DS.

Aye, also when they say 500charges it usually means 500 FULL charges ie from empty to full, so charging from 70% full doesn't count as a full charge etc

Uh, I'd assume they mean after charging the battery 500 times it's probably going to need to be replaced.

Sounds reasonable to me. I've had my GBA SP since launch and i've charged it 5? 6? times. Even at once a week thats ~ 10 years.

That picture is great. Creepy old men kick ass.

Good to see the NDS info starting to pour out. It's like we get something new to talk about every other day or so, now.

Not long til launch, I'd imagine :)

My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.
Why do rechargable batteries take so long to charge back up?

When I use a sponge it only takes moments to completely soak up water under the faucet. Why can't rechargable batteries be more like sponges?

Well if you're being serious.... :p

If rechargable batteries had the potential to "soak up" electricity that quickly, it would also have the potential to RELEASE that energy just as quickly. Which causes problems with electronics that can't handle a lot of electrical current.
