Nintendo Switch Sports Review Thread

tried putting it in before strapping to my leg. no luck. it's far too tight and i feel like it's going to damage my analog stick.
Just tried it on my Ring Fit Adventure strap, which is slightly different but pretty much the same, and the righ Joycon fits just fine. Removing it is a little tricker and you have to lift up the mesh, but it hardly seems like a problem.

A friend got this mostly for his kids but we tried it today and it's pretty fun. The special bowling courses and badminton were pretty fun. Though is it me or does Tennis feel slower than in Wii Sport?
But it all feels extremely basic and limited, I know it's not full price but even for $40 it's pretty light on content with essentially just 6 basic minigames. The character customization is also surprisingly terrible, there's like 6 haircuts.
And apparently unlocking further customization options requieres you to play online (and pay for online play) which sucks for people that don't play switch online and just bought this to play with the family.

I guess a Nintendo $40 is a "$20 if anyone else made it".

I really enjoyed both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort but I'm curious how the motion tracking is in these new ones without the sensor bar deal, is there better motion tracking in the joycons, are the controls more polished and gesture based than freeform motion to mitigate issues, how's the sword fighting in particular cos it'd be annoying if you have to constantly reset/recenter and/or otherwise get wrong inputs different to your intention (which was an issue in those games too but it's been twenty years and in VR controllers we get perfect tracking (but no awesome Nintendo games).

I'm a giant fan of Sports Resort and got this day 1. Felt like a clear downgrade in terms of motion control accuracy. I ended up barely playing it.

That sucks. Thanks. Does Switch 2 have any better tracking (not applicable on Switch 1 games played on 2 I guess but in general tech if anyone knows)? I'm gonna guess no. Man if only we had gotten a real Wii 2 (by now 3 I guess) instead of Wii U with half assed support for the original Wiimotes...

That was my opinion on it, but just so you know I didn't play it much. And I didn't play it on Switch 2.

But I was basically in your exact shoes, looking specifically at the motion accuracy and specifically at sword fighting. I'll have to try it again one of these days. But yeah, I still have my Wii U hooked up for Sports Resort and it still holds up.

But Switch 2 offers a shitty mouse though !

No vision. Iwata is not there anymore.

I've heard the switch 2 gyroscopes are better than switch 1, they're able to track the player better without requiring calibration.

I've played a lot of this game, I think I have 40 hours? it's a clear downgrade from the wii games. But I found the golf to be excellent.

Nice, here's hoping the next game in the series fares better then if the tech makes it viable.

Well, that or some half competent dev makes a VR rendition of N's Sports/Fit games (tech and tracking is not the issue there but more often than not game design is in all the fitness/mini game/sports type games of the sort I've seen so far - though there are various great mini/golf/racket games).
