PC Exclusive Star Citizen has the best graphics ever made in a video game ?

The amount of goodwill that Roberts Space Industries could have bought itself back if it had actually released Squadron 42 would have been immense IMO.

Star Citizen is the white whale that they may be chasing after forever (hopefully not, but man, there is no landfall yet on the horizon...), but if S42 had happened, at least there would be hope to cling to (for those outside the community still hoping to sometime wade in), as well as a product to point to as evidence that it's not all a "scam".

Then again, if S42 had sucked, every dollar poured into Star Citizen afterwards would have been all that more questionable.

You answered your own post. They can't ever release anything (including Sq42) simply because all this is about making people dream. All the money they got was because of those dreams.

The day you officially release something, everybody sees the dream is dead and it was overhyped through the roof, then money will drop a lot slower.

It's one of the most impressive schemes ever conceived. They sold dreams for dozens of millions and it was mostly legal. The day money stops flowing, all they have to say is they're sorry they failed and close the shop, then spend the rest of their lives on a paradise island. That's pure genius. It's virtually impossible to attack them and get the money back.

Maybe. Or, not.

...So, what's your theory on why Chris Robert thought a space movie starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Mathew Lillard would make for a killer time at the movies?

Because, myself, I think it's just that he is a guy who likes cool spacey stuff like I like too sometimes, but he does tragically, embarrassingly, catastrophically miscalculate on how to make them some times...
