Developer: Konami
Genre: Sports/Football
Release Date: August 30, 2018

Had to do a picture light OP but will update later when I get in

The new stuff
Visual Fatigue: A significant introduction to PES 2019 is Visible Fatigue, which is a reworked, rebalanced stamina system. Players will give clear visual indications when they are tired, with their stamina level impacting how they play. How you manage players during a match and when you make substitutions could be the difference between winning or losing. Yes, you can also recreate the Fifa hamstring pull and get an injury. Which gives rise to....

Quick substitutions: These will be available when the ball goes out of play. A simple button press will give you recommended changes based on stamina and position. No need to interupt the gameplay during a tense match! For example hold R2 and press x to make a quicksub.

Ball physics: Improvements have been made to make the movement of the ball more natural and varied. The trajectory of the ball is now based on posture and how the ball was kicked. Also, situations like the ball bouncing off the goalkeeper's body or hitting a defender during a block have more realistic outcomes.

Full body context control: (Full Body Touch) introduced last year has been further enhanced. How the ball is controlled depends more on the surrounding situation, allowing for smoother and contexual trapping of the ball.

Shooting mechanics: Unique varied animations have been introduced, including motion of the ball slipping past the goalkeeper's outstretched hands, reactions of the attacker who just slighlty missed and more intense/joyful reactions around the goal area.

Contextual dribbling animations: Dribbling animation and fluidity is now based on variety of factors, such as player and ball positioning along the defensive line, precise feint movements to surpass around the sides and awareness of the close proximity of the opposition while turning.

11 New skill traits: Cross Over Turn, Double Touch, Step On Skill control, No Look Pass, Interception, Penalty, Specialist, GK Penalty Saver, GK High Punt, Rising Shots,Chip shot control,Dipping Shots

Can I use option files?
Yes, these will be available from usual places online, or you can make your own. Obviously, these will mature with time, the usual rush to fix the basics will follow with more in-depth and broader improvements. I believe Xbox is still not allowing import of images so unfortunately absent.

Is there a demo?
Yes, available on PS4, Xbox and PC (Steam)

Great OT. This year's PES is much better than fifa. Its a great offline game to play with your family and mates. Online, im not sure. But great OT nonetheless. I'd want that 99 shot power Adriano in myclub, though.

Every year I say it's my last one, demo drops and then I end up getting it. I think master league is where the usual challenge is at for me. LIke FUT, I'm a not a fan of the myClub mode. Usually have a dabble at the end when I've done everything else. Don't even really like the Virtual Pro/BAP modes. Although the Drop in Clubs on Fifa is addictive.

Overall my thoughts on the demo are mixed. I play on manual everything. I think 'Manual Shot' is horrible this year. It's meant to sit between Advanced and Basic but it needs fine tuning. The timing issue for heads and height of ball for volley has returned as well. I can definitely sense a more 'robust' feel about the AI and their defending. I like seeing them slide and commit fouls as well.

I didn't like the limiting command list in the demo. Anyway, if any veterans have any tips, FAQ's etc post them below and I'll link them in the OP

I checked out the side but I only see the usb they are selling. Do they have digital download as well?

Edit: ended up subbing PES Universe, jumping through a few hoops and it looks much better now.

Thanks guys.

Actually surprised me. Managed a few games last night. Online is really improved (certainly for online divisions at least). The pace seems much more polished than the demo. Scored some real belters from manual shooting. Not often you say the demo was worse than the release for PES but I think they've finally got something right this year. The menu's - though aesthetically poor - are actually clear and easy to go to cup/league etc. Still messing round with the adjustments but they make a big difference. They still have an issue with awkward angles for backheels though - which was a major issue in PES 2018 with every other pass at one point being a backheel.

Nice OT. Looking forward to hearing more impressions.

This from the Eurogamer piece is promising for someone really tired of FIFA's general samieness:

And I love the unpredictability of PES 2019. The somewhat random nature of the ball, of tackles, of shots and even passes, which can and do go awry, will be a turnoff for some, but amid accusations of scripting and a lack of control that bubble up every now and again in the world of football video games, this sense that you're both in control and out of control at the same time appeals to me. And, let's be honest, randomness is a part of real football.
