After pondering over days about what to get, i finally went with the Senn Momentum 4's.
First impressions : they come
somewhat flat (even though their supposed V-shaped tuning) out of the box, people suggested to turn "bass boost" on but that made sound muddy drowning the mids, what really fixed it for me was doing the sound personalization thing and now...HOOOLYYYY SHEEEEEEIIIIIITTT, THIS is where it's at, amazing sound !
Later on i'm gonna fiddle with custom EQ/profiles but for now i'm (really) good.
A couple of things :
- Tested audio lag on both my phone (S24 Ultra), Laptop (Ideapad Lenovo) and my LG C2 and...lag is almost imperceptible, i don't know how or why papi
Arioco
had 220ms+ on his tests but i'm around 50-60ms (doing various video tests which i know they're not that reliable but...), on par/somewhat better compared to my Soundcore Q30.
Depending on the video selected on YT, with some 4K ones "Aptx" lights up on the app while with other lower quality ones it's AAC.
Hardware/Comfort : for my 47cm circumference head these are comfy as hell, no pressure points and very light (for me).
Their ONLY cons IMO are the leatherette pads which get hot and kinda sticky quickly and i can imagine them getting swampy during summer time. Also : the "not-blow-your-eardrums-off" audio output levels - don't get me wrong, they don't sound "low" but they COULD be a little bit louder.
Turning off the "audio normalization" on spotify helps a little bit but, yeah, sound could be
a little bit higher IMO.
- Audio quality : I've had the Senns HD560s, Fidelio X2 for comparison and as for (shitty) headsets, the Arctis Nova 5, Turtle beach stealth 700 Gen3 and the cloud Alphas wired (based on a takstar Pro2 model (?) sounded really "fun" and nice for pretty much everything especially after EQing them).
Now these...they're fookin' Senns, 'nuff said - and since i'm coming from shitty quality drivers (Arctis Nova 5/Turtle beach stealth 700 G3) the difference is chaotic, you can push every frequency in the EQ wherever you want (just for testing eh?) and there's no distortions/crackling/popping - i absolutely understand that that is a very low bar to begin with (headset to headphones comparison) but...yeah, audio clarity is crystal clear, FINALLY.
No problems with disconnections/sound cutting out etc during my testing so far.
Now, to see how long this battery lasts since i've read on reddit that they reach nowhere near the quoted 60 hours battery life.
- The app : this has to be one the
best, fastest and reliable apps i've ever used, kudos to Sennheiser, brilliant, easy to read UI, lots of optimization and the device fast switching feature is friggin' black magic - no need to enter your TV's/phone's/whatever sound options each G'damned time, scroll a couple of lines until you reach the BT options and then selecting the output device - upon initial pairing, you just open the app, select your device from the app, pop-up appears on your TV (it's auto on Android), you press "yes" and you're good to go - i can't mention how easy and convenient this whole thing is, great QoL setting/option.@Topher was G'damned right about this, it's immensely convenient...
- PS5 gaming : My Avantree C81 gaming version arrives on Sunday so, unfortunately, i can't do any comparisons just yet, but, having paired the M4 straight to the TV the audio lag isn't by any means bad like i mentioned above, in fact, i hope that the BT dongle will be better 'cause otherwise i'll just send it back.
185€ (discounted) isn't exactly cheap in these times we live in but, taking into account that these were 300+ Eurodollars headphones a few months ago, have great sound but most importantly, 90% of the gaming headsets out there sound like utter shite due to overblown audio/bass and sound/driver issues...i'll take some minimal audio lag every day of the week.
Thanks to all the people that chimed in, appreciate it !
