Shattered Union, where's the excitement?!

I actually heard about this title a couple months back when a close friend brought it to my attention for the PC and I've been following it ever since. It's from the makers of Tropico and Railroad Tycoon 2.

I salivated like Pavlov's dog when I heard that there's an XBox version in the works with XBL online play. They had me at hello! Any other old school turn based strategy fans here? I thought that Advanced Wars got people pumped for this genre again. Didn't we have a Dai Senryaku 7 hype thread here a few months back.

I was into these games way back in the day on the PC and consoles. Military Madness/Nectaris, Vasteel, Dark Wizard, Master of Monsters, Warsong, any cool war campaing game by Koei you name it I was on it. But I'm digressing. What I like about this title already is the cool back story (be sure to check out Gametrailers.com), but in a nutshell due to political hubris a terrorist act wipes out the most of Washington and there is civil unrest. Several states succeed form the Union (forming 7 different factions), and the US is in it's second civil war. I just read more about it tonight in this months Computer Games Magazine. This game will have some pretty nice features like 70+ units, planes can be given patrol orders, anti aircraft units will fire on thier own, interactive terrain (i.e blow bridges, buildings, even national monuments for strategic options), and more. Of course I mentioned online play, but the PC version will not only support head to head play but also do so over both e-mail and direct connection. Not sure on all the XBL features, but I'm glad this is online. I was really bummed that Dai Senryaku 7 was not.

Anyway, needless to say I've reserved a copy, and this is one of those games like Daisenryaku 7 that probably won't have a large print run, so I thought I'd at least give this game a shout. Fans of the genre are in for a treat. Check these links for more info:
