SHUTARO, known as the Curry Sage, who had been battling illness for some time, passed away on 10th February due to pancreatic cancer.
We hereby express our deepest gratitude for the kindness shown to him during his lifetime and respectfully announce his passing.
Though SHUTARO's adventure in this world has ended, his work lives on.
We sincerely hope you will continue to enjoy the games he created.

I see he was an NPC programmer for MGS:GZ. I wonder if he's responsible for the annoying 12 active NPCs limit in those games. I've had some choice words for whoever was responsible for that awful decision. Regardless, I feel sorry for him and his family. Cancer is downright cruel, I've seen firsthand what it does to people and it's truly a nightmare. Rest in peace.

Truly awful, the loss of an absolute legend to the industry.

I just lost a friend to cancer too. It's gettin pretty scary, why's it seem so goddamn common now? I swear we all know someone, or in my case many someone's, who has passed from cancer or are currently battling cancer. It was always scary but it didn't seem quite as common as now, maybe I'm just imagining it, I don't know.

Never heard the name, but it seems he was loved. His work helped give something to the world that will live on.

Pancreatic cancer in particular is brutal.

I had heard 1 in 3, but an AI summary a search gave me this:

Current Cancer Rates

General Statistics

  • In the UK, the latest estimate indicates that 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. This figure has changed from the previous estimate of 1 in 3 due to improved calculation methods.
  • In the US, 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men are expected to develop cancer during their lifetime.

Factors Influencing Cancer Rates

  • Aging Population: The primary reason for the rising cancer rates is the increasing lifespan. Most cancer cases occur in individuals aged 60 and over, as the risk of developing cancer increases with age.
  • Lifestyle Factors: Certain modifiable habits, such as tobacco smoking and alcohol consumption, significantly contribute to cancer risk. Approximately 38% of new cancer cases worldwide are linked to avoidable causes.
