I was in a medical research facility today finalizing my cancer treatment meds and having them counted. When i was asked by one of the staff if i would like to take on another study. First thing i asked is how much does it pay... she says: two_thousand_dollars. So it peeks my interest.

A hour or so passes by, she comes back and hands me documentation on the drug and the study. I read how long the study lasts, two weeks. I think to myself what in the world could this be for. I read on, "Male Enhancment and Performance Enhancing Drug" So i continue to read on.... "Must come in each morning to take study drug"

So after readying through what you have to do it gives you two choices. "If you do have a partner who is willing to partake in the study check here___(extra $1000f or a total of $3000)" Reading on... "if you do not have a partner, we will provide a study patient for the two week study. Study will be conducted in one of four cities. Please note that if you do not have a partner you will only recieve $1000. The cities where study is taking place: LA, NY, Miami, Chicago, and Dallas." reading over the fine print i see this: "Condoms, Sexual Devices, and other materials will be provided free of charge" interesting....

ok so yeah it got a good laugh out of me. The girls in the office thought it was just as funny. But seeing as i am already ok'ed for this makes me laugh. But its real and i thought it was very funny.

So would you do it? Knowing your dick could fall off from all the sex that you would be having to have for the purpose of the study?

I wont give you my answer, but i'm in the minority probably.

Yea, I'd be afraid of the "provided partner," but other than that, I'd just call up my ex, offer them the $1,000 and I'd be all over it.

Its for men 18-24, only qualification is you have to have high blood presure and low white blood cell count. And of course be willing to participate in the study. The only reason i posted this was cause of the provided partner it was hilarious. I asked what it meant and the answer i got was: "Its another person you would be spending your time with on your two week vacation" They'll send you to one of those cities and you shack up with another person who is taking another drug, which i assume is for women.

I wasnt expecting to laugh my ass of so early this morning.

LA???!??!??! holy shit my bf and I can get 3000 for screwing? We already have sex and you mean we can get paid for it?!?!? More info please!

EDIT: 18-24. shit. I feel really fucking old now. thanks :(

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
There's a place in downtown Baltimore called Pharmakinetics that does clinical studies all the time. Once I tried to get in one and I ended up being their overnight but was pulled out of the group the next day(don't remember why), anyway it was weird it was like being back in high school... most of the folks knew each other from previous studies, hung out, formed their little cliques, etc... very weird. Hmm looks like they changed their name recently... seems like a cool way to make money if you have the time and can get in the studies...

I don't even remember seeing them have a study like yours though. ;)

Actually, Robert Rodriguez finaced his first film from doing medical studies. He wrote a book called "Rebel without a Crew" detailing the making of his first film "El Mariachi". The first part of the book explains A LOT about clinical trials, as he did quite a few to raise the funds for his film. He goes into the cliques, getting used to being called a number instead of a name etc. Its a great read, in fact I found it to be much more imfornative about clinical trials than about film making. :lol

We've got a place like that here, too. They study generic vs. name brand drugs. My friend bled for his Dreamcast.

Depending on the side effects of this study, I would most likely participate. The provided partner thing is kind of funny. It's sort of like reverse prostitution. Man, I could use 2-large.

Why would a program for male enhancement require you to have high blood pressure and (especially) a low white blood cell count?

Sadly i've learned all to well in the past three months that these cliques are all but too real and i will say that i've had many a conversation with lots of numbers in the past few months. We dont call each other by our names, hell were not suppost to share any personal info. But that doesnt stop us from talking about current events.

Whats funny is that i know some of the staff from college so its even more funny. Cause they hook up all they're friends into studies and its a very easy way to make money. Due to the cost of the study i'm in and the fact that its life threatening i will be payed 1/8th the final cost of what most people would normaly. But i dont care its helped me beat cancer.

This new study sounds interesting i really wonder what its suppost to do though. I did read over it again. And you do have to go in for a night and sleep at one of the centers for observation.

This is the name of the company doing the study: university medical research and science of california.

EDIT: 3pheMeraLmiX: as far as i know its a new drug from Phyzer and Comp. I'll call it Viagra2 if you will. It suppost to stimulate growth at the last stage of growth in the male reproductive system. So basically it is increasing the blood flow and the cell structure to the penis naturally using this new drug. They are testing it on many different men with different strengths and testing out the side effects. thats why those are required to partake in the study.

Maybe it's a dual purpose drug. I always found very strange the commercials for the birth control that would also clear up one's skin. Or they want to make this doesn't kill people with high blood pressume and a low white blood cell count.

Probably testing the saftey of the drug. The larger the payout, the more dangerous the study is. My friends have tested like, baby aspirin. They only got like $200. For $2000, one would expect a larger chance of something going wrong.

Or maybe one of the side-effects of AIDS or cancer treatments is impotency, or less "response." And they're always really quick about making drugs/other treatments for people who have had sex but can't anymore. When it comes to people who have never been able to have sex, it's not quite as quick.

I don't know, there's lots of reasons. Even though I say $2000 would be nice, injesting a cocktail of pills, that they're testing, that I don't know exactly what they do, that effect my ever-important penis, isn't worth $200000 to me.
